So things are going well so far. As I said, we have been set up in corporate housing, and it’s really nice.
This past Friday we went looking at a few places to be our more permanent home and was thinking we were in trouble. Only by luck did we come across a two bedroom townhouse we liked. We had been hoping for a three bedroom place, but this one has two very big bedrooms, with the master bedroom being very, very big. So our thinking was to put the boys in it, since it has plenty of room for two beds and other furniture, plus room to spread out toys. But we were worried about the amount of money we would have to put up front. They wanted first month’s rent, plus a security deposit, which is equal to one month’s...
Today is the day! A day that I have been looking forward to for nine and a half months!
OK, so I did enjoy some time off. I liked being able to be at home for such a long time during Ian’s first months. It made things easier, being able to take a nap during the day if needed after a bad night. But I am so very happy and excited to be going back to work this morning. My new employer has treated me like I am an important member of their team and I haven’t even worked a day yet. It was nice to be courted in such a way.
I will miss my family, but I am sure I will get used to the “old swing of things” quickly.
My Dad’s birthday is today. And he will be spending it with us here in our new/temporary home. My Mom and Dad came out to help us move in and get acclimated to the area. The funny thing is that he will be cooking tonight.
And for the fun of it, here is a picture of Ian with a shirt he was wearing yesterday that says “Grandpa’s Silly Monkey.”
Today is moving day. We have probably already hit the road by the time any of you are reading this. We hope to be in Canonsburg by lunch. Then around 2:00, a realtor will take us around and look at a couple of places. We are only bringing a few things with us this time, since we have a fully furnace apartment temporarily, picked up by the company. Once we find a permanent place, we will head back to Hellertown for a long weekend and pack up the rest of our stuff.
I just hope the massive amounts of snow this state has gotten in the last week has been removed enough not to slow us down.
I keep falling behind on these reviews. And I need to think of a better way to start these. I can’t remember when I finished “Saved” by Jack Falla, but it’s a novel about hockey, and from what I gather it was his only novel, though he was a very prolific writer, even working for Sports Illustrated in the past.
As is usual for me, I take my description from the Publishers Weekly review found on Amazon.Com:
So the big day has come and gone. And so have the days where the commercials were better then the game. Fortunately the Colts and Saints, as has happened in more recent years, gave us a game that was far better then the hyped commercials. But this one, to me, was by far the best.
Been really busy lately. Trying to pack. Then we got ten inches of snow on Saturday. After shoveling, I didn’t feel like doing much else. Still had more packing to do though. Then on Sunday, family came over early for lunch, just to hang out before we left. Then when most of them were heading home, some friends came over with pizza which got us through the first quarter of the Super Bowl. Then more packing on Monday. Needless to say, I haven’t had time to blog, and have even had parts of a book review that I haven’t finished writing show up here on my blog, only to have me post date it again in hopes of finishing it soon. Hopefully I will today. Nigel’s off to his last day of school, and all the packing for...
Over the weekend I finished reading “The Manual of Detection” by Jedediah Berry, his debut novel.
From Publishers Weekly via Amazon.Com, per usual, here is the description:
Set in an unnamed city …… Charles Unwin, a clerk who’s toiled for years for the Pinkerton-like Agency, has meticulously catalogued the legendary cases of sleuth Travis Sivart. When Sivart disappears, Unwin, who’s...
