OK, here are some more answers to more questions.
————————-
My friend Kate asked the following questions:
What are your top three new beer finds for the past year?
I am going to qualify this first. I had two beers that I would say were two of the three best, but they were both from Unibroue. Both of these were special beers that they don’t brew all the time. Given that I have had everything they brew on a regular basis, and how wonderful it all is, I buy these without thinking. Therefore, the beers that I am going to name here are ones that I never knew existed before.

Here is the first batch of answers for those asking questions.
————————-
Internet friend Roger, who celebrated his birthday yesterday, asked the following:
First a statement from him (Admission: I recently asked the first two questions of someone else and the third question he asked of his readers):
Should any of the following be in the Baseball Hall of Fame: Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Rafael Palmeiro. Why or why not?
As much as I dislike him, and as much as I do truly believe he used HGH’s and/or steroids, Barry Bonds needs to be voted...

Andre Dawson
Glad to see that “The Hawk” was elected to the Hall of Fame. Figured his day would come, but what was more interesting was that he was the only player elected this year. For those of you that didn’t hear, some of the writers that have ballots to vote turned in blank ballots. Not sure exactly what they were protesting, but maybe it’s time for them to give up their rights. As it was, Bert Blyleven just missed getting voted in, like he only needed two of the eight (from what I heard) idiots that put in blank ballots to vote for him and he would have made it. The one thing that makes me feel good about it though is that he should make it next year. Roberto Alomar was one that I...

Damn Yankees!
As I am sure all of you know by now, the Yankees finished of the Phillies last night. I went to bed when it was 7-1 in the 6th. Didn’t want to watch anymore. It was obvious that the Fightin’s just didn’t have it last night. But the thing that keeps going over and over in my mind is that this team is probably not done. Sure, their pitching is shaky. But if Hamels can get over his issues from this year, and they can pick up another solid started, maybe even have Happ come up with the kind of season he had again, and gain experience, I don’t see why they can’t repeat as division champs, and even make another trip to the series. Would be nice.

Tigers
Very disappointed to see the Tigers blow a three game lead with only four games left. I watched the tiebreaker game in it’s entirety. Even though my boys lost, I have to say that it was a very, very exciting game. Hopefully we will see more like this throughout the playoffs.
Cardinals
Hard to believe the Cardinals were swept out of the playoffs. Like most where thinking, including Roger, I figured the Cards were the team to beat in the NL. Yet the Dodgers now have advanced to the NLCS two years straight by sweeping the favorite in the LDS. Though this year they could have been considered the favorite based on record.
Yankees

Being unemployed, and having a newborn, you tend to lose track of the days.
Parents
My parents are heading out to Pennsylvania to spend some time with their newest grandchild today. They will be here through Friday. We are looking forward to seeing them again. As it stands, if I am not employed by Thanksgiving, we will not be making the trek out to Michigan for Christmas. So this may be the last time we see them in a while.
Lions
Not that I am a huge NFL fan to begin with, and though from Detroit and clinging to my baseball and hockey loyalties, I am not a Lions fan. But in some respects, I am excited a bit this year. I think that the team’s direction, for the first time...

On Friday, a former school-mate of mine that I have caught up with again on Facebook, took a helicopter ride with his friend. It looks like they started at Metro Airport and explored, from the sky, the surrounding area, and eventually downtown Detroit. The image below is what is left of a great ballpark.

I, for one, was adamant that the Tigers needed to move out of that one great building on the corner of Michigan Ave. and Trumbull. But...

Over the past season, I have turned to the MLB Network quite a bit. I love their “SportsCenter” like shows that go even further with the analysts right there at the desk discussing all the games. Plus their visits to Studio 42 to actually show strategy and training techniques.
Through this time, Barry Larkin has impressed more and more. It hasn’t been long since he retired, and maybe he prefers the steady gig at MLB Network, but I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody hired this guy as a coach, and very soon. (Yes, I know he spent some time as an assistant GM with the Washington Nationals.)

I won’t get into a debate about whether the man should be reinstated or not. I have my views and other will disagree. However, like Marcia said this morning, we are glad the Eagles broke training camp before signing him. The grounds of Lehigh University that they use for camp is a five minute drive, or less, from where we live. Sessions are open to the public. Traffic is usually bad during camp, especially around lunch time. And Main Street in Hellertown has been under construction for three weeks with another week to go. The extra media blitz might have caused some serious traffic issues for an area that is not used to it.

I am sure my readers are dying to know how my team has been doing. Been a while since I posted about them, since finding a job has taken up most of my online time. Well, I will have you know that my teams has hit a slump! We’ve lost two in a row, yet have managed to stay in first place. Both games my captain, who scores double points, has let me down. And both games were lost by small margins. Hanging on to first place though has been the key. The Jersey Shore Crushers lost the same week we lost the first of two. Hopefully we can turn it around and keep our playoff spot.
Here is the ladder:
