Well, almost that is.

Marcia has been encouraging him to sit on the kiddie potty we bought for him a while ago. And more recently she bought his some pull-ups, too. But today he took his first real steps towards using it. At one point yesterday he pointed to the front of his pants (as he has been doing lately when he has been “going”), and then ran for the bathroom. Marcia got his pants and pull-ups down, but he had already gone in them. But he still sat down and got a little more to come out and into the potty. Needless to say I was very happy to hear that when I came home from work.

Potty training is one of the things that I dread doing. Not being sure what to do and how to approach it. But at the rate...

One of my son’s namesakes, Nigel Mansell, was recently feature by ESPN as one of the Top 25 Racers of all time. Mansell falls in at number 24. It was nice to see another Formula One star along with him in the first five of the series (Niki Lauda). I remember Mansell as being rather brash, but backing it up on the track. He never let down. It was great watching him compete, and very hard, against his teammate Nelson Piquet (another fave of mine) when both were driving for Williams in the mid 80’s.

I just don’t have the time to post every picture. Quite honestly, I don’t have to. Since I usually post the pictures of Nigel on my Picasa account, you can do directly there and not have to wade through them on my site.

Pictures of Michigan Visit

Though, here are a few of my favorites:

This first one is of Nigel after waking up in the hotel on the way to Michigan. He pretty much spent the whole night in one of the beds.

We’re Back
We got back Monday afternoon from our visit to Michigan. It was a good trip, though too short as always. The ride home was pretty good considering it rained a good portion of the way, and we had a forced stop of 30 minutes waiting for an accident to clear. Marcia was sleeping at the time, and Nigel was watching a video, so I did a crossword puzzle while waiting.

Bookworm Carnival
The Bookworm Carnival that I am hosting has finally been put together. You can see the PAGE here on my site. The theme was urban / contemporary fantasy. A few books I have read were reviewed, but some good suggestions...

New Job
I am busy already. And that’s a good thing. Right away they got me started on something. It was also a great project to start back with, refreshing my memory of a particular software they use.

Posts
Because of being busy, I haven’t been able to post much. Home life is busy with other things, and we don’t ever get to do all we want to begin with. I had been doing many of my posts from work, and post dating them. I liked the idea of having one new post a day. Why do four or five in one day? So in this respect it looked like I was always running behind on reviews of books or movies or other things in general. Now I may be running behind with them but it will...

Nigel loves trains. Or as he calls them, “Woo’s”. Maybe a better phrase would be that he is obsessed with them. A while back we had a couple of Target gift cards to use on Nigel and decided to buy him a toy. We opted for THIS GeoTrax set.

A month or more later, on St. Patrick’s Day, Nigel, my Mother-In-Law, and I went over to David and Catherine’s for dinner. Nigel started playing with Lyric’s Thomas the Tank Engine trains, the ones that use wooden tracks. I could not tear him away from them. So last...

Nigel’s Second Haircut
Last Saturday morning we took Nigel for his second haircut. It went really well. He was very well behaved. He was sitting on a flying elephant and occasionally wanted to stand up on the foot pegs, but he didn’t move around and was smiling and talkative the whole time. I was a bit worried, because he has been in terrible-two mode, big time. But he made Mommy and Daddy very proud of the way he behaved.

Now someday in the VERY NEAR future, we will be taking him for pictures.

Home Hunting
Marcia and I started our new home hunting this week. I figured it would be good to start now, considering it might take some time to find anything we like. ...

Here are some pictures of the Munchkin Man. He has been playing with his alphabet and number blocks quite a bit lately. They have become a favorite of his the last couple of weeks.

Nigel’s Hearing Test …
… after months of waiting, finally happened yesterday. The results were very good, even if it took a long time to get them. After using a sonar (I think) type devise to see how the ear drum was registering, they asked either Marcia or I to go into a soundproof booth with Nigel and one of the specialist to play. It didn’t take Nigel long to discover that he was scared of the place.

Marcia went in first, then I relieved her. At one point we gave him his blanket hoping that would help. On the contrary, he buried his face in it. Considering they are looking for facial reactions to the sounds they project into the booth, it turned out to be a struggle. But like...
