This past Saturday we took a drive into Wheeling, West Virginia to visit the Toy and Train Museum. Marcia had seen a sign for it on the way to a doctor’s appointment. Given where we are at now, Wheeling is about a half hour drive from us, maybe a little more.
They have housed it in an old elementary school, which was rather interesting. Some of the school still shows it age, but other areas, especially the area by the restrooms, and what looked like an area to sit and have a snack, had been nicely remodeled. It also appeared that more remodeling was going on.
The main attraction for us, obviously, was the trains. Those took up most of the 2nd floor. They had an “O”...

Here are a handful of pictures of the boys.
We got snow last weekend and Nigel inherited a hand-me-down pair of boots that same day. He was anxious to get out and use them.

Earlier in the day we trekked out to Wal-Mart, only because it’s cheap and we’re still unemployed, to buy him some new gloves and a hat. Now he was ready to go.

Nigel officially turns 4 years old today!

We plan on getting him a cupcake today. Maybe even another small gift.

Other then a few nights when he falls asleep on the couch, Nigel always wants some books read to him before going to sleep. I hope this develops a habit of him reading as he gets older. And recently he is showing signs that he wants to do it.

Here is another batch of pictures of Ian. A good portion of these I was trying to catch him smiling. As it turned out, some of those I was either too slow or too fast. (There were a bunch I’m not posting.) But Ian has been doing a lot of smiling lately, and cooing, especially when he is on Nigel’s bed. And by just talking to him, and sticking out our tongues, it usually helps to get a smile out of him.

I was doing some shopping at Target yesterday with both Nigel and Ian. At one point Nigel kept trying to get in front of the shopping cart, nearly getting run over. I kept calling his name, trying to grab his hand to move him. A woman was pushing a shopping cart next to me when she heard this. She looked at me and said that she had never heard anyone else have that name other than her girlfriend’s son. So we got to talking and then I mentioned that the little one’s name was Ian. The woman’s jaw dropped. She said that her girlfriend’s two sons were named Nigel and Ian, too.
Now, I don’t assume that they are the only pair of brothers with these names. Heck, there may be plenty of them in the British...

You know, it’s one thing to drop your child off at school. But it’s a lot tougher watching the bus come and pick them up and take them for the first time. I know we will get used to it.

Tuesday was Nigel’s second day of school, and today is number three. So I am finally posting the pictures from his first day of school. You can click on the picture to be whisked away to Picasa to see a bigger image.

Packed up and ready to go.

One more shot for good luck.
