Been a long time since I posted any pictures of Ian. Here are a couple from a few weeks ago when my parents were in town.

Then a few while standing up in the Pak-N-Play with Nigel standing by.

Here are a couple of pictures of the boys from a few weeks ago.

Nigel decided to read a book to Ian. Though Nigel doesn’t know how to read as of yet, he has memorized this book.

Ian really enjoys his...

We had a very good visit with my family this past weekend. Originally it was planned for Mothers’ Day weekend, but a goof on my part (forgetting what weekend it was) and a heavy work schedule, we pushed it back a week.

We didn’t go running around anywhere, just hung out at home, though did make it over to my brother Todd’s so that Nigel could play with his daughters. The only outing we had was to Dragonmead with my friends George, Kate, Lori, and Wendy. Jenn came along as well. It was a nice relaxing evening and I got to spend more time talking to George then the previous two times. I started with their new Dortmunder,...

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Been falling behind.

Nigel
We got Nigel signed up and into the Early Intervention program in the county we are going to be living in. (Our temporary home is in the same county.) Unlike back on the east side of the state, Nigel is going three times a week instead of two, and is going in the morning session. He has gone twice already and has seemed to have done well. He is not getting a ride in a big yellow bus, which he loves, but he is OK with the van they use.

Ian
Ian hit the six month mark earlier this week. He had a check-up the following day and it went well. His growth in height, weight, and head are all between 60 and 70 percent. His fine motor skills...

Here are a handful of pictures of the boys.

We got snow last weekend and Nigel inherited a hand-me-down pair of boots that same day. He was anxious to get out and use them.

Earlier in the day we trekked out to Wal-Mart, only because it’s cheap and we’re still unemployed, to buy him some new gloves and a hat. Now he was ready to go.

A lot of stuff going on lately. Want to catch up with things.

Writing
So NaNoWriMo is done. I hit the goal of 50,000 words plus and mentioned that my story wasn’t done yet. However, I am setting it aside. Maybe I will finish it, but right now have no desire to do that. I don’t think very highly of what I wrote. Besides, right around the time that I started it, I had come up with another idea for a story. I am working on that now. I have over 8,000 words already, and have only scratched the surface. I think this will be much better. I have already sent some of it to a friend to read and she loved it. It helped spur my desire to pursue this project. I am not sure if I will ever finish it,...

Other then a few nights when he falls asleep on the couch, Nigel always wants some books read to him before going to sleep. I hope this develops a habit of him reading as he gets older. And recently he is showing signs that he wants to do it.

A few days ago when Ian was cranky, I laid him down on the changing pad on Nigel’s bed. He really seems to like this. We don’t know why, but it usually gets him to calm down, and start cooing and smiling. So this particular time Nigel decided that he was going to read Ian a book.

Today is Ian’s Christening. My parents came in from Michigan last night, so they will be in attendance. Other then that, it is immediate family only today. Marcia’s family that is. Due to the economic downturn, we originally were only going to have cake and coffee after the ceremony. But others have donated their efforts to make and/or buy food for our celebration. And since we have the family together, we will be celebrating Nigel’s birthday as well.

We are very thankful for all the help that both of our family’s have given us during this very hard financial time. It goes well today, celebrating our family with the faith of God.

Here is another batch of pictures of Ian. A good portion of these I was trying to catch him smiling. As it turned out, some of those I was either too slow or too fast. (There were a bunch I’m not posting.) But Ian has been doing a lot of smiling lately, and cooing, especially when he is on Nigel’s bed. And by just talking to him, and sticking out our tongues, it usually helps to get a smile out of him.

I was doing some shopping at Target yesterday with both Nigel and Ian. At one point Nigel kept trying to get in front of the shopping cart, nearly getting run over. I kept calling his name, trying to grab his hand to move him. A woman was pushing a shopping cart next to me when she heard this. She looked at me and said that she had never heard anyone else have that name other than her girlfriend’s son. So we got to talking and then I mentioned that the little one’s name was Ian. The woman’s jaw dropped. She said that her girlfriend’s two sons were named Nigel and Ian, too.

Now, I don’t assume that they are the only pair of brothers with these names. Heck, there may be plenty of them in the British...
