Marcia Update
It is only a few days, but Marcia is continuing to feel better. She really believes now that the doctors were correct, and that some of her meds were causing rebounds. She has had pain everyday since leaving the hospital, but hasn’t taken anything for it, and it has gone away. Her mood is much better, which probably helps the cause. Stress can only make them worse.

While in the hospital, they had her go for another MRI. This is her third in seven years. Her last one was just two years ago. They found a cyst in one of her sinus cavities. It is nothing serious, but may need to be treated. Given what Marcia has seen with her migraines, it doesn’t seem to be a cause of them.

She...

I know everyone has been on the edge of their computer desk seat, waiting for me comment about the other half of the NHL and the new uniform systems being introduced. Well, the wait is over! Here is the second half of the league and their new sweaters.

One note before moving on: I have gone back and posted the two sets of sweaters that didn’t change, just for continuity, and therefore will be posting all the sweaters this time around, whether they changed or not.

New York Rangers
OK, so I just said that I was going to post pictures of all the sweaters regardless of a change or not, but I am not posting the Rangers yet. Why? Because official pictures haven’t been released yet. However, it is...

So I mentioned earlier this week that many of the NHL teams are changing the look of their uniforms this year. This actually came a year later then expected, when Reebok came on as the exclusive manufacturer for the league. Some of us in the world of hockey (and uniform/logo) fandom thought we were going to see this last year. However, it was planned that the overhaul would come with the new “uniform system” would be introduced, which is this season. So, most of the teams have changed something about their uniforms this year, even if just a couple of minor tweaks to the sweaters (jersey). Some of the sweaters haven’t been released yet, but I am going to start now since there are 30 teams to go through.

One note...

Lousy Week
Due to a lot of issues, this past week wasn’t all that fun. Marcia had a migraine that lasted three days. Finally on Thursday I had to take her to the emergency room. The general mood of things was just bad all week. Some of this has to do with me putting my foot down about someone that we associate with. That hasn’t helped relations with this person’s spouse. However, Marcia has backed me up 100% with my stance, but still at times I feel that I am being childish. That feeling though comes mostly when I look at my faults, which I had been doing a lot of last week.

Anyway, it’s over and time to move on. And hopefully I will be in a better mood to post things. Especially...

Joyous Buschna!
I am a day late, but I hope all of you had a Joyous Buschna.

Of course, many of you don’t know what Buschna is. (Pronounced BUSH-nah) Buschna is the made-up holiday for those of us with Eastern European heritage. It is the day when we go out and feast, mostly on sausage and potatoes and sauerkraut, and wash it all down with a good beer.

Though quite honestly, anyone can celebrate Buschna, and we welcome all that want to. The whole idea was to get a holiday in August (which doesn’t have any) to fill the void between July 4th and Labor Day. So mark August 15th on your calendar and remember to wish everyone a Joyous Buschna next year!

Late Birthday Dinner...

Hockeytown Is One Less
It appears that Mr. Bill Davidson, native Detroiter, is selling his hockey team, the Tampa Bay Lightning. After purchasing the team in 1999, he became the third native Detroiter at that time to own an NHL team (obviously the Illitch family owns the Red Wings, along with Peter Karmanos who owns the Carolina Hurricanes). There have been rumors swirling around that the NHL was going to grant two more expansion teams in the coming years, and one would be located in Las Vegas and owned by yet another native Detroiter (making four), famous movie director Jerry Bruckheimer. But that is just a rumor, and quite frankly I don’t think the NHL needs to add teams. There are plenty of teams that are...

Hello Nigel
Marcia and I have been a bit worried (but not losing sleep over) the fact that Nigel hasn’t been saying anything really that could be considered a word. But over the last month or so we have seen (or more properly heard) things that could probably considered words. I MENTIONED before that he says night night, or something close to it. He still says that, though not as frequently. But then again anytime we say it’s night night time, he grabs his blanket and heads to his bedroom. Sometimes it comes with him saying night night.

But this past week he started saying hello, and it appears that he knows...

Here are the answers to the most recent edition of “Ask Scooter Anything.” As before, these are my opinions and thoughts and are not meant to offend. Unless of course I put down any crabby New York Yankees’ fans. In this case though, I don’t, so they are off the hook this time.

As always, Roger asks some tough questions. But I like that. Here are his questions and my answers.

What is your sense of God? Personal, hands on deity or impersonal lurker?

I put these two together, because it seemed that was meant. And these have to be the...

My hockey teams both made some good moves as the free agent market opened up on Sunday. The Flyers SIGNED one of the three big free agents available, that being Daniel Briere, formally of the Buffalo Sabres. Given the need to fill the hole left by trading Peter Forsberg (which still turned out to be a good trade), Briere should fit in nicely with Simon Gagne on the top line. Locking him up for eight years seems like a bit much, but I wouldn’t have offered him less then 5 years. Want him to stick around a while.

Given the trade the Flyers made earlier this summer, getting Kimmo Timonen and Scott Hartnell, and signing Martin Biron as their goalie (I believe they...

Pointless, But Interesting Trivia
Yesterday, June 21, a famous TV actress and a famous TV actor both celebrated their 60th birthdays. They were Meredith Baxter and Michael Gross. I thought that was rather interesting given that they played Mr. and Mrs. Keaton on “Family Ties”

Lack of Songwriting Talent
Yesterday on my way home from work, the CD I was playing started skipping. So I took it out and started scanning the radio stations. Like usual when doing this, I ended up landing on Lehigh University’s radio station where they were playing some pretty good tunes from some new releases by well established musicians. Eventually they got to another song that they didn’t...
