Yesterday from the comic strip “Get Fuzzy” by Darby Conley.

There have been a few things floating around the internet in regards to Monty Python alum Michael Palin being a part of the Republic presidential ticket, but I found this the funniest, being a fan of this strip.

ADDED!

Here’s today’s.

Marcia is going through a really tough time in her life right now. And though many of these issues have plagued her for a long time, quite a few of them have come to the surface all at the same time. The last week has been really bad. If it wasn’t for the posts that I had put in well ahead of time, last week and the beginning of this one would have been post-less. I am pages away from finishing a book and will be posting the review soon after. But other then that it may be a little sparse for the next couple of weeks while Marcia seeks the help she needs.

I usually don’t post these, but thought it would be fun. I found two of them through Roger’s SITE. The third one, about hockey, I found after finishing the director quiz.

But had to post it anyway. From the comic strip “Reality Check” by Dave Whamond on August 27, 2008.

For those that know the song, I am sure you are groaning.

Was told about an interesting web site a couple of days ago. The site is called FieldReport.Com and allows people to write stories about events in their life. The idea is to have members review/rate the stories and the member with the highest score after a certain amount of time wins cash prizes.

I have it on good authority that the site is legit. I am not sure if I will be posting any “field reports” myself. It would be nice to win money for writing, but I don’t see myself having anything interesting enough, or well written enough, to win. But I have enjoyed reading some of the reports.

Today, Marcia and I “celebrate” our seventh anniversary. Though actually we really celebrated it yesterday by seeing a movie (”The Dark Knight” … nothing says wedding anniversary like Batman! … review coming eventually) and grabbing some take-out burgers from our favorite place down the street. Thanks to my Mother-In-Law for watching Nigel for us.

[UPDATE:]
So we got away for dinner after all tonight. Headed over to the Braveheart Inn. You might guess, and it would be correct, that it’s a Scottish pub. Great food. Great desserts. It was a really nice time. And thanks again to my Mother-In-Law for indulging us for...

I am heading down to Baltimore today for work. I was put on a project for a steel mill in Sparrows Point. It used to be owned by Bethlehem Steel, and has changed hands a few times since they were bought out, and now is part of the Severstal. The engineer involved is Jose, who I met for dinner quite a few times after leaving the company. He used to work at the mill before joining out company. It should be a challenging project, and our trip is to be a part of the kick-off meeting.

Over the last month I have been changing my driving habits. Though there are many good things that are coming of it, better gas mileage is the key goal. And it has paid off. We had been averaging around 24 miles per gallon out of the Ford Focus. With my efforts we have been averaging 28 miles per gallon. Given that it’s a ten gallon tank, that about 40 extra miles per tank, which can just about get me to work and back.

Most of what I started doing was not putting the pedal down when going up hill. There are quite a few hills, especially the way I go home (less traffic). But the two most recent tanks I was going even further. Making sure I was slower pulling away from lights, and gradually gaining speed where speed limits...

I didn’t get a whole lot in the way of actual gifts for my birthday, but like last year (cash for my iPod) I used the cash for some more expensive gifts.

David and Catherine got me a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble, which I used to get “The Last Witchfinder” by James Morrow. This book had just caught my eye recently.

From our friends Andy and Yvonne, I got a gift certificate for eBay. Haven’t used it yet (still trying to find where I misplaced it), but I have a few ideas. There are some CD’s that I have wanted for a while that I will probably search...

Yep, I’m officially another year older today. Though actually I was feeling much older a week ago after helping David and Catherine move last Saturday.

Don’t have anything special planned. Was hoping to get out and see “The Dark Knight”, but not sure that is going to happen. Plans change though.
