On Sunday I was downstairs reading. My Mother-In-Law’s basement is fully finished and is a walk-out, including being on the same level as the garage. While in my favorite chair to read, I caught sight through the door-wall something moving. It was a small fawn. I quickly went upstairs to grab the camera. By the time I got back, another fawn had joined them, and so did their mother.

So since the Red Wings beat the Penguins in the Cup Finals, I obviously won the bet I had with the guy at work. And my prize? COOKIES!!

They are supposedly only found in the Pittsburgh area. I had my choice of face, and went with the pirate look. Mostly because I thought it would be a bit fun, and Marcia has a thing for pirates.

They were quite tasty.

Wanted to pass along my wishes for a Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there! Especially my brothers, my brother-in-laws, my internet friends, and most especially to my father.

I will be spending time with Nigel, the reason I am a father. Mostly that will be in the morning while Marcia is playing at church.

And I am sure...

I certainly hope that those backing Clinton will listen to her words HERE, even after a hard fought campaign against each other.

Because my employer is doing work in the steel making industry, we have hired a few employees over the years that are originally from Pittsburgh. Two of them are rather big Penguins fans. So we have a little wager on the outcome of the Stanley Cup Finals. And much like the mayors’ of cities in these kind of circumstances, we are offering something from our “home town” as it was.

If the Red Wings win, I will receive a box of cookies from a maker that is based in Pittsburgh. If the Penguins win the series, I will either be getting them a 12-pack of Vernors’ ginger ale or a bag of Sanders’ candy (haven’t decided which yet). Luckily for me, these will be easy to obtain. My Mom sent me a link to...

I usually abstain from talking about political issues on my blog. I hate them. Besides, I don’t want to start fights. We are Americans, not Democrats and/or Republicans or other affiliations. We are already divided by other issues, and party lines just make us more divided. But I feel like venting on two issues, though one really has nothing to do with any true political views.

Is it just me, or does the mention of the title of this post in campaign commercials annoy you? I understand why this line is always said by the candidate in political commercials. Somebody, associated with some campaign somewhere, made one that said something or showed something that the candidate didn’t agree with, or was along the lines...

One of my son’s namesakes, Nigel Mansell, was recently feature by ESPN as one of the Top 25 Racers of all time. Mansell falls in at number 24. It was nice to see another Formula One star along with him in the first five of the series (Niki Lauda). I remember Mansell as being rather brash, but backing it up on the track. He never let down. It was great watching him compete, and very hard, against his teammate Nelson Piquet (another fave of mine) when both were driving for Williams in the mid 80’s.

We’re Back
We got back Monday afternoon from our visit to Michigan. It was a good trip, though too short as always. The ride home was pretty good considering it rained a good portion of the way, and we had a forced stop of 30 minutes waiting for an accident to clear. Marcia was sleeping at the time, and Nigel was watching a video, so I did a crossword puzzle while waiting.

Bookworm Carnival
The Bookworm Carnival that I am hosting has finally been put together. You can see the PAGE here on my site. The theme was urban / contemporary fantasy. A few books I have read were reviewed, but some good suggestions...

I would like to wish all the Moms that I know a Happy Mothers’ Day.

I hope it is as wonderful as you could have wished.

Marcia, Nigel, and I will be heading out to Detroit this afternoon. Actually, we will only make it as far as the Pittsburgh area tonight, but by Wednesday afternoon we will be at my parents’ house. We are spending almost a week with them, mostly for the Mothers’ Day weekend. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again and hoping that Nigel gets plenty of time to play with cousins his age.
