Here it is! And there is not much I can say.
The boys and I are doing well. Things had been moving along with the divorce. Hit a snag last week, just about the time I was going to write this. Not sure what is going to happen now.
I’ve been busy with work and being a dad. No time to read anymore. With Nigel in school, and having homework Monday through Thursday, and Ian developing faster each day, I’ve been concentrating on spending time with them. And by bed time, I’m too tired to read. Plus I’m usually texting with someone that I really care about.
Haven’t been able to follow much hockey. I bought the NHL Game Center package for the Roku and barely ever turn it on. I now wish I didn’t buy it this year. Could have saved the money.
Watched what college football I could. Still HATE the BCS. Not liking how Alabama got a free ride into the Championship Game. They need an 8 team playoff at the very least. Take away the Big East’s automatic bid, give the other big five conference champs automatic bids, and then pick the next best three teams. If Bama can win that way, then I’ll be content. Also, the bowl system just stinks. Michigan St. AGAIN got muscled out of a BCS bowl. Last season they beat Wisconsin, but the Badgers went to the Rose Bowl (and I was SO geeked to see TCU beat them for various reasons). This year, MSU is in the Big Ten Championship Game, but Michigan, whom MSU beat during the season, got the BCS nod and a trip to the Sugar Bowl. Wisconsin went to the Rose Bowl again. And LOST again. That’s going to happen though. Even with an 8 team playoff. Teams will be left out. But it’s a better way to decide a championship. Another problem is there are too many bowl games. IF your team is 6-6, YOU DO NOT DESERVE A BOWL BID! Just my opinion. OK, ranted a lot there. Sorry.
Not liking the interleague play that will be throughout the MLB season next year. But it’s better than having the stupid division line up they have now. The move of the Houston Astros to the AL makes sense, but would have rather seen the Milwaukee Brewers go back to the AL. Still would like to see no divisions, like the original days of baseball. Have the top four teams qualify for the playoffs. But the divisions have made for exciting pennant races. At least baseball is trying to improve their game.
And getting back to hockey, wish the NHLPA would have approved the realignment plan. If I was the owners of the Winnipeg Jets, I would be livid. They’re stuck with another season in the Eastern Conference, in the Southeast Division, too. Those trips to Florida will be nice during the winter months, but the travel will wear on the team. Playoff hopes will be dashed when the players are out of gas in mid March. And as a Red Wings or Blue Jackets fan, dealing with all the late games still stinks. Oh well. The NHL will figure something out. Even if they have to take the NHLPA to court to do it.
Not much else going on. And I ranted about sports a lot more than I expected to there. Had to get it off my chest though. And hopefully come summer, things will be moving in a better direction, or at least moving in some direction.
Hope all is well with those that may be peaking at my blog from time to time.
