So Marcia and I need to get ourselves ready to move. Though this process will take a little longer then just packing things up. My new employer will pay for us to stay in corporate housing for up to 60 days. We are going to do that. At first, I had hoped to find something where we could take advantage of their three day house/home hunting trip, where they pay for lodging, gas, and meals while you find someplace to live. But I looked up on Craig’s List and realtor sights, as well as apartment search sites and only found one apartment (and they don’t have anything available until March). There is seriously little that will fit our needs (three bedroom with large dog). Sure, we can go down to a two bedroom, but I would prefer not to do to needing the room mostly. And given that my salary will be higher then my last job and rent prices are lower, as well as the cost of living, we have more breathing room to pay for a three bedroom place.
So we will be heading out sometime next week, in the middle of the week, after a suggestion from my father, and getting ourselves settled in corporate housing, learn the lay of the land, and then me to head off for my first day on February 15. While we are there, we hope to look some more and ask around, as well as use the services of the company’s recommended realtor to see if she can help us find something to rent.
We also have had some help in finding good areas to live in based on the neighborhood and schools. I used to work with a guy that is originally from the area and lived out there for quite a while with his family before coming over to this side of the state. Also, my employer sent us a big binder full of information on the area. Not only things to do, but guides to help those relocating to the area like school district ratings and city/township information.
So for now, we pack. We want to get everything ready so that when we come back for everything, all we need to do is put it into a truck and haul it away.

It’s work, but I find moving is the easiest way to purge stuff.

Yes, I agree. Marcia and I have done a lot of purging during our last two moves. Marcia really needed to do it and she felt very liberated, especially during the second move.
