Here in the state of Pennsylvania …. Oops! I mean the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, it is required that all cars have a certified inspection every year. We took the minivan in yesterday for it’s annual. It came back saying that the rear brakes needed to be replaced and the front would pass, but wouldn’t last very long. I decided to have everything done right away. Why take the chances, especially with a trip to the other side of the state coming up later this week.
Just before Nigel got dropped off at home from school, Marcia took me, along with Ian, to pick up the van. On the way home though, the other car, the Ford Focus, broke down. It’s the timing belt. About a month ago we ended up spending over $800 on the Focus due to problems we were having with it.
This has been very frustrating, not even needing two cars, yet spending so much money to keep them running. I certainly hope that I get the job I am interviewing for this Friday. We desperately need it.

I always liked that Gary Numan song.
Oh, you mean REAL cars. Yeah, we have one, and we’re fortunate enough to live in a city where one is all we need.

Have zero cars is where we are eventually shooting for. Moving to one is next and it hopefully will be a diesel.
And for the sake of argument – a commonwealth is no different from a state other than in title

I was just being a smart ass because you have to make the checks out to “Commonwealth of …” and not “State of …”
