Yes, you read that correctly. I have a phone interview today with a company that is south of Pittsburgh. Obviously I am hoping that it leads to a face-to-face interview.
The company seems to be set up much like my previous places of employment as of late. The responsibilities in the job posting are exactly what I have been required to take care of in this past positions. And the kind of equipment they design I have a little bit of experience and knowledge of, but feel that I could catch on very quickly as I always have when switching industries.
I believe I had sent a resume to this company late last week, but the person in HR that contacted me said they found my resume on the same site. I don’t know if my application passed their email in transit or what happened. But it was nice to be contacted they way I was. After setting up the interview they asked to see a file of my resume and letters of recommendation. That last part got me. I have never asked for one, though others have offered to write them for me. Every time these offers have been made though, I had already found new employment and felt it would be a waste to get one at that time. I won’t let that happen again. As it was, I went back and contacted my references and asked them, if possible on short notice, if they could supply them to me, and of the five I asked, four of them were able to help. Hopefully these will help make the point of my skills and experience.
Now I just need to do well with the interview.

Good luck. Don’t forget to 1) go to the bathroom beforehand and 2) have a glass of water handy.

For My Friend John
Damn! Those Blackhawks look great! At the time of writing this, they were tied for second in the NHL for best defense. They also are second with most goals scored. They also have the best record in the league, which is not surprising after hearing the first two stats. But I keep hearing how they are just under the salary cap and if someone gets injured, they may have a hard time calling anyone up. Hopefully they can stay healthy, or say a team that has had a lot of players injured that will come back refreshed all of a sudden will overtake them in the standings, like the Red Wings for instance
