Not exactly sure when, mostly due to the Thanksgiving weekend fast approaching, but I will be getting an interview soon. There is a company about an hour drive from where we are at that purchased a manufaturing facility to make medical equipment. The equipment in the facility is over 20 years old and no improvements or changes have been made to it. They have a huge list of things that need to be done to it, and not enough personel to do it. So they want to bring in a Mechanical Designer who has experience with making changes to existing equipment to make it run better, increase/improve productivity and the life of the parts, and improve maintenance. I was doing exactly that at CHL with our steel mill customers. The only difference will be that I will have access to the machines themselves and be able to talk to the production managers and machine operators face-to-face. The company that is hiring for this position sent six resumes for their client to look at, and they sent back notes that they were interested in three of them. Mine was number two on the list.
The position appears to be contract only. Or at least that is the way it is being presented. You never know what can happen beyond that. But they estimate at least six months of work. It would be a huge improvement from what I have now, which of course is nothing.
