To fill in a gap, here are some clips of some great bass playing.
First, Tal Wilkenfeld. She is currently the bass player for Jeff Beck’s live band. As a matter of fact, the two guys playing with her are also part of his live band. The drummer is Vinny Colaiuta, of Frank Zappa fame.
I am having such a hard time getting back into posting full time like I used to. As has been the case the last month, most any time I get on the computer I use to look into jobs, write follow-up emails, or read over advice emails I have gotten from the various sites I have signed up with.
I have two movie reviews I still want to write. One of those movies I saw over a month ago! But I just can’t or don’t want to concentrate on them right now. I keep stumbling into more and more sites, looking for more and more positions. As it is, I haven’t had any more luck. My count of resumes sent out in response to ads is over 120 I am approximating. Though I think that is fairly accurate. I would say my rate of a return...
Eventually, when I get a job and we move, I will be able to get all my CD’s that have been in storage. They have been there for almost three years. It has been really tough since I got the iPod and would be able to put all, or at least most of these albums on it. And it hurts even more so now with a much, much bigger hard drive. Below is one song that I dearly miss.
The Toronto, Ontario based trio Triumph is what I would call a guilty pleasure of mine. I grew up listening to these guys, and grew fond of them before I was really introduced to that OTHER Toronto, Ontario based trio. You know, Rush? Anyway …. there is a lot of early 80’s heavy metal / hard rock cheese throughout their albums,...
Yesterday I finished reading “The Iowa Baseball Confederacy” by W. P. Kinsella. For those that don’t know, he was the author of the novel “Shoeless Joe” which was the basis of the famed movie “Field of Dreams” starring Kevin Costner.
From Publishers Weekly via Amazon.Com, here is the rundown:
On the day he met his true love, a carnival performer named Darling Maudie, Matthew Clarke was literally struck by lightning...
Marcia and I will be changing our email addresses after a long run with our current ones. They were tied to a web site that my brother-in-law David put together and ran. He has since closed the site, yet Marcia and I kept the email addresses. But now, in mid October, the domain is up for renewal. Instead of paying extra just to keep our email addresses the same, we have decided to change to something cheaper, like free. So, for those of you that would like my new email address, just post a comment. I will be sending out a mass email soon.
I am sure my readers are dying to know how my team has been doing. Been a while since I posted about them, since finding a job has taken up most of my online time. Well, I will have you know that my teams has hit a slump! We’ve lost two in a row, yet have managed to stay in first place. Both games my captain, who scores double points, has let me down. And both games were lost by small margins. Hanging on to first place though has been the key. The Jersey Shore Crushers lost the same week we lost the first of two. Hopefully we can turn it around and keep our playoff spot.
Even though it doesn’t, it just might be that “better” mouse trap the world has been looking for over the years.
During the two and a half years of living with my Mother-In-Law, we have had issues with mice. The biggest issue is stereotypical. Or at least, for some. Another and much more annoying issue is them hoarding Molson’s dog food. We have moved things in the basement, only to find mounds of his dog food in places that he obviously can’t reach. The first two places...
OK, so I had hoped to get back to blogging, but still having a hard time doing it. The last two posts, being book reviews, were done a few days in advance. Again, I only seem to be concentrating, at least when I get on the computer, on finding a job. And things are not looking good.
I emailed many of the recruiters who had things going for me earlier this week. One of them got back and said it now appears that their client is putting the position on hold for now. Then one recruiter, after telling me that my resume looked great and that I would be a good fit for the position I applied for, didn’t reply to my inquiries for over three weeks! Finally on Tuesday I wrote him a long email, basically selling myself to him again,...
Recently, like a couple of days ago, I put down “The Sea” by John Banville. It won the Man Booker Prize in 2005. I realized two days later, after putting the book down, about halfway through, that I had no desire to pick it up again.
From Amazon.Com:
Max Morden has reached a crossroads in his life, and is trying hard to deal with several disturbing things. A recent loss is still taking its toll on him, and a trauma in his past is similarly proving hard to deal with. He decides that he will return to a town on the coast...
During our trip to Michigan, I finished reading “Anthem of a Reluctant Prophet” by Joanne Proulx.
From Publishers Weekly via Amazon.Com (per usual), here is the rundown:
It’s the fall of 2002 in Stokum, Michigan, a rank little pinprick of a town, where a night of pot smoking brings about Luke Hunter’s prediction that his friend Stan will be crushed by a red van with out-of-state license plates. When the random prophecy comes true, a media madhouse infiltrates Luke’s quiet...
