Much different from last year’s Game 1. The Pens showed up and gave the Wings all they could handle. Especially in the first period. In the end, it was two fluky goals for the Wings that did it.
I wasn’t surprised at how hard the Pens were playing. The experience from last year showed. This wasn’t a team that was in awe of who they were playing and why they were playing. They were confident, hitting, clogging up the neutral zone, flying around at times, and had the Wings chasing their tails at times, too. But they just couldn’t get it in the net. Osgood’s confidence was even higher. His stopping Malkin on a breakaway in the 2nd period was a great testament to that.

I have been rather busy finding a job, and doing other things around the house. It turns out that I have had less time to write posts even though I am unemployed. So to fill the void, because I will be busy watching the Stanley Cup Finals over the next week (or two), I figured it was time again to do a round of questions. So let them rip! Put them in the comments of this post, and I will answer them in a post later next week.
As usual, anything’s game, and I will answer to the best of my ability.

So it’s set. For the first time since the Islanders and the Oilers faced off in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals in 1984 and 1985, the two teams that met in the previous year’s Cup Final will meet again. It’s down to the Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins again.
Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals had me worried. Not so much that the Wings would lose the series, but at least lose the game. After giving up a goal with seven minutes left to tie it, and with Hawks goalie Cristobal Huet playing amazing, I figured the Wings were going to lose it in OT and have to play yet another game. As it is, it might have been better that way. Game 1 of the Cup Finals is this coming Saturday. The same day that...

So it continues. I think I may be approaching 50 resumes sent out. And I still have a bunch of job links to send to, and more companies to contact, or web sites of theirs to check out. The reason I haven’t already to these is time. For some of these internet listings, it takes half an hour to fill out all the necessary information. Not all of them are set up to attach an already written resume and cover letter.
My range of location hasn’t really changed, except for two. I sent a resume to a company in North Carolina. If lucky enough to interview and get offered the job, it was a bit further south then we really wanted to go, or at least me. However, the job seems like a good fit. Another one that I have yet to...

The boys from Philly keep chugging along. Took down perennial contender (and the winner of the first three championships) Edmonton Bombers this past weekend, 912-859. The big test comes this coming weekend though. A first place showdown with Brian’s Jersey Shore Crushers in our fourth annual “War at the Shore”. We are both two games up on the third place Bombers, so a loss for either team won’t ruin the season, but will certainly make it more challenging to keep their playoff spot. Should be a good match-up.
Here is the current ladder:

For those of you that have today off from work, may you enjoy it your holiday. But like my friend Kate mentioned, let’s not forget what this holiday is really about.

It’s about honoring those men and women that have given their lives while serving our country in the military. To the families of those that are honored, thank you for beloved’s ultimate sacrifice. May we never forget them.

I thought the coverage on Versus wouldn’t start until 8:00, leaving the game to start around 8:30. So I was a bit dismayed when after reading stories to Nigel I came to the TV and find the Wings already losing 2-0 with 10:00 left in the first. Right there I figured they had lost. I figured even before the game started that they would lose this one. I figure they will still lose one more game at least. After Niklas Kronwall got the gate for destroying Martin Havlat (I certainly thought it was a penalty, a two minute interference penalty, but not a game misconduct), giving the Hawks a 5 minute power play (and lest you forget that even if the team on the PP scores on a 5 minute major, the PP continues), I was ready to shut off the...

On Wednesday afternoon, I finished reading “The Way Through Doors” by Jesse Ball. Found this one on the Farley’s Bookshop web site.

Per usual, here is the description that caught my eye from Publishers Weekly via Amazon.Com:
When pamphleteer Selah Morse witnesses a taxi run down a young woman, he takes her to the hospital and, in telling the staff that he is her boyfriend and that her name is Mora Klein, is given custody of her. She is amnesiac, and his orders are...

I have been sending out quite a few resumes. I have been using the obvious online means like CareerBuilder and Monster. Also found some other sites along the way. I have had two people sending me links (my brother-in-law David and friend Kate …. mentioned in the previous post). Before this past weekend was over, I probably had sent out about 15 to 20 resumes. After Monday, I have upped that to over 30.
I also have made a few calls to former co-workers for contacts. One has been talking to his supervisor about me for a year or so. He tried to get me interested in working for his employer, but at the time the length of commute was undesirable with plenty of job prospects in our area. Now that commute doesn’t really...

This originally came from Facebook, but Roger posted it on his site.
Let others know a little more about yourself, re-post this as your name followed by “ology” Then tag 20 people of your choice. Once you have been tagged you must do it and then tag the person that tagged you!
As Roger said, “Well, I ain’t tagging nobody. (That being a double negative, does that mean that EVERYBODY’s tagged?)”
FOOD-OLOGY
What is your favorite sit-down restaurant?
Probably the Bethlehem Brew Works. Good food, not really expensive, and of course, great beer.
What food could you eat for 2 weeks straight and not...
