I mentioned a little while back that I was reading a new blog, Electronic Cerebrectomy, written by someone calling himself SamuraiFrog. Actually, I have been reading it for well over six months, but finally added it to my links section.
Anyway, he did something, and from what I understand, through the suggestion of someone going by the name of Splotchy, to “adopt” an actor/actress. The original idea was to promote this actor from time to time, usually a character actor. Samurai adopted four. Now recently did it again. Roger got in on this too, so I decided to join as well.

As you can tell from my post title, I chose David Strathairn. I have always liked the guy and the characters he plays. Though shamefully, I have yet to see his greatest role, playing the late Edward R. Murrow in “Good Night, and Good Luck”, in which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Lead Actor.

The first role that really introduced me to Strathairn was in “Eight Men Out”, where he played famed pitcher Eddie Cicotte (SEE-cot).

You SHOULD see him in Good Night, and Good Luck. Sometimes the movie’s a little slow but he’s excellent.

Marcia and I have been really falling behind on the movies we want to see. Ahh, the pitfalls of having children.

There’s a great book that lists character actors “Hey! It’s That Guy!” – it’s a fun one to flip through. http://tinyurl.com/bkkmre

Thanks for the link, Yaffa. That does look like a fun book to have.
