So, as it seems to be the way of things, Marcia and I got a bit of bad news this week. One day after putting a desposit down on a really, really nice and big townhouse, I was told that my overtime was being cut. It’s “temporary”, but of course no one knows how long “temporary” will be.
The company that I work for has always, always worked a 45 hour week. I would usually put in between 44 and 48 hours a week myself. Without overtime I am taking a 20% cut in pay. That makes it really tough to make it month to month while renting this townhouse. The price was just a bit higher then we wanted, but given what we were getting for it, it was a bargain.
Then yesterday I remember...

The Wings locked up their key player, for possibly his entire career. Henrik Zetterberg signed a 12 year contract extension for approximately $73 million. Given that he will be making about $6.8 a year for a while (his salary takes a severe plunge in the last three years of the contract), it is still a great deal for the Wings!
Scott Burnside has a great ARTICLE about Zetterberg and the Wings’ organization today. It’s highlights what a great deal this is for the Wings. They had three key players they wanted to resign, all becoming free agents at the end of this current season. They figured they...

Our move is getting pushed back a week. Not too big of a deal for us. Just gives us more time to pack some stuff up. The only problem pushing our move in date back could cause is our furniture that is on hold.
This past weekend Marcia, Nigel, and I went to Unclaimed Freight. They have some very good prices, and since we needed some living room/family room furniture, we figured we would see what to expect for prices. One set was priced so well, we bought it. They will hold it for us for 30 days. Now, we still won’t have a problem getting pushed back a week, but if it has to go yet another week back, then we need to find a place to store this new furniture.
The biggest thing we have to worry about right now is getting...

So we looked at a three bedroom townhouse on Friday night. Actually, we looked at two of them. The first one was in a more desired place, but the owner schedule three of us to look at it at the same time, and one of them was looking to buy the place. It pretty much made me not want to rent from the guy if he was advertising both renting the place out while trying to sell it.
Anyway, the other place we looked at was very nice. I think the bathrooms could use an update or two, but that didn’t bother me. The amount of closet space was incredible. And it has a lot of other living space. The living room dining room combined was a good size. Then there was another living room like area with a fire place. The master bedroom...

It creates a great picture.

And this picture gives me confidence that things are going to get better, even if slowly, on many levels.
OK, now I am not going to make any more comments for a while and just let the man get to work.

There are other priorities in life, but sometimes I love to find a lot of time to read. Over the years though, I have felt much like this:

I should be able to find a lot of time to read when I retire. Now I just hope that I can retire someday.
