David’s Birthday Obama Humor
Nov 08

OK, so it happened a couple of days ago, but I felt like noting it.

I had a lousy day on Thursday at work and my commute home. I am trying to get a project done at work, and everything really came to a head on Thursday. I had things that needed to be cleared up with the customer, and he wasn’t in the office. Things that I had made progress on were pushed back for one reason or another. And then I forgot about one issue. It sounds cliche, but it was the old “take one step forward, then two steps back” kind of day.

On my way to work I had noticed that a Wawa had posted a price for gas of $2.06 a gallon. It was the cheapest by a good 12 cents then any of the other stations, except for a Hess station that had it for $2.10 a gallon. I decided not to stop then since it was on the other side of a divided highway and would have taken more time. I would wait until my way home, even though I don’t take that route home because of the amount of traffic. But when I started to drive up to the Wawa on my way home, dealing with the traffic, they brought the price back up to $2.19, which was just about what everyone else was selling it for! I was already running late, because Marcia and I had to get to choir practice. So I decided to brave the traffic and stop at the Hess. The only problem was that the Hess had LOWERED their price to $1.99! So half the population in the area was in line to get it from them. I eventually stopped at another Wawa, but had to pay $2.21 a gallon. Needless to say I wasn’t a happy camper.

But it all went away when I got home. As soon as I came up the steps, Nigel was running for me yelling “Dada!” I played with him on our bed for a few minutes while my dinner cooked, with him giggling the whole time. And Marcia and I had some nice conversation on the way to choir practice. She had a meeting before practice, so I got time to read for a bit. Then practice itself was a good stress reliever.

It wasn’t easy getting home so late and having to go to bed right away to wake up early and head off to work again, but the day finished well. There is nothing like family and the enjoyment of things you like to do to relieve the pressures of the day.
