On Sunday afternoon Marcia and I went to the theater (amazing, I know) and saw the new Indiana Jones movie starring (obviously) Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf, Karen Allen, Ray Winstone, John Hurt, and Cate Blanchett.

Let me first say that I am not a big fan of the Indiana Jones movies. That’s not to say that I hate them. I can take ‘em or leave ‘em. Marcia, however, is a HUGE Indy fan. So that is why we went.

This time around, Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones, Jr. gets caught up with the Soviets in 1957 trying to uncover the secret behind a crystal skull. Winstone plays Mac, a former military mate of Indy’s and now no one is sure who’s side he’s on. LaBeouf plays Mud, a kid that befriends a former colleague of Indy’s, Dr. Oxley, (Ox for short). Oxley is played by Hurt. Then Karen Allen reprises her roll of Marion Ravenwood from “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. Cate Blanchett plays Col. Dr. Irina Spalko who is experimenting with mind power which is linked to the crystal skull.

The Indy movies are rather pulpy, not something I am big on. However, they are still entertaining. And honestly that’s all you can ask for. This delivered on the entertainment factor side. Sure there were things that would be virtually impossible (like Indy surviving a wild ride in a refrigerator that is blown a mile away by a nuclear bomb test), but that’s Hollywood for you. And Mud (LaBeouf) at times was an annoying character, though that is possibly a testament to his acting ability.

So it was a fun movie to see, and I enjoyed it more then I thought I would. And it was good for Marcia and I to get out of the house without Nigel. It was especially good for Marcia.

I kind of expected it to be kind of weak. It’s unfortunate that that seems to be the case. I would have liked a great addition to the Indy trilogy, but that is ok. My expectations arent very high for this film.

I also would just like to say that I wouldn’t call Iron Man a “homerun”…It was alright IMO. The suits looked great, and it had some pretty good CG, but overall it was just alright.. Ia Stil watching all Movies Here http://www.80millionmoviesfree.com

Indiana Jones never lets me down! :)
Plus the theme music is my favor of all of John Williams’s scores.
It’s a shame you didn’t get to hear it in it’s entirety until the ending credits.

Oh forgot to add, like many others would agree, he’s one of the hottest 65 year olds around I know of! :)

I’ve seen Shia in stuff I like, such as Holes. He’s supposed to be the Next Big Thing, or has been for the last couple years. Did you get the sense that he was being groomed to take over for Harrison? (I haven’t seen it yet.)
And BTW, I thought Iron Man WAS a home run.
