Cup Finals - Gm. 3 - Pens 3, Wings 2 Aussie Rules Fantasy Football - Rnd 10

Wow! That was close.

I was a little upset when the Wings took a very early penalty that led to a Penguins goal. That’s not the best way to start a very pivotal game of a series. My Mother-In-Law happened to walk by and asked what the score was. After I mentioned the Wings were losing already, she saw that there was still over 14 minutes left in the first period, and calmly said, “It’s early yet.” She was right. Fortunately the Pens took the same penalty at almost exactly the same spot of the ice not two minutes later. Though the Wings goal officially came after the power play expired, they tied the game up rather quickly. I breathed a sigh of relief. But that didn’t last long.

Jiri Hudler is mobbed by his teammates after scoring what was to be the game winning goal.

Even after Hudler’s goal, I still didn’t feel too relaxed. Sure, it’s not like at the time the Pens were playing really well. But they quickly turned it up. I was REALLY nervous during the Pens 5-on-3 for just short of a minute and a half. And though a second sigh of relief came after the Wings killed it off, the feeling of relief still didn’t last long.

One to go, boys!

I think that both Zetterberg and Osgood have separated themselves as the top candidates for the Conn Smythe Award (given to the playoff MVP). It took Game 4 though for Zetterberg to really get back into it. His display of defensive prowess in the third period was amazing.

For the first time in a long time, I will probably be very nervous watching Monday night’s game.
