Wow! Another shut-out. Quite honestly, the Wings put on a defensive clinic last night. It wasn’t just a matter of holding the Pens off, or getting lucky. The Pens didn’t have a shot on goal when both teams were at full strength until midway through the second period. They were clogging the neutral zone incredibly well.

Wings’ Valtteri Filppula scores a goal in Bobby Orr fashion.
Now for all you fans out there saying that this series is over, don’t get too worked up yet. This could still go seven. Only three other times has a team shut out their opponent in the first two games of the Stanley Cup Finals. The most recent was in 2003 when the Devils did it to the Mighty Ducks. But the Ducks forced a Game 7.

Two down, two to go.
I honestly don’t think it’s going to go all seven games, or even that the Pens will win the next four straight to end it in six. But I do fully expect the Pens to win either Game 3 or Game 4 in Pittsburgh. They won’t just roll over. And even though it doesn’t mean a whole lot that they haven’t lost a game since February at the Igloo, it still will give them some confidence.
