I usually abstain from talking about political issues on my blog. I hate them. Besides, I don’t want to start fights. We are Americans, not Democrats and/or Republicans or other affiliations. We are already divided by other issues, and party lines just make us more divided. But I feel like venting on two issues, though one really has nothing to do with any true political views.
Is it just me, or does the mention of the title of this post in campaign commercials annoy you? I understand why this line is always said by the candidate in political commercials. Somebody, associated with some campaign somewhere, made one that said something or showed something that the candidate didn’t agree with, or was along the lines of a cheap shot, so this line, spoken by the candidate, is now inserted to show their involvement. However, when the candidate is actually the only person in the commercial doing all the talking, shouldn’t it be assumed that they approve of it? I do find it a little annoying. It makes me want to say, “Of course you approve this message you moron, you just said it yourself!” Then again, maybe I am thinking about this way too much.
Besides these commercials, something else is beginning to get to me. I am really beginning to worry that Hillary Clinton is doing her party more a disservice by staying in the race, and is going to hurt Obama’s chances of getting elected. Now, this is two-fold for me. I stand strong by my independence. I am not registered to ANY political party, and never will be. I have usually voted conservative, and in past Presidential elections voted for third-party candidates. However, though soaked in realism, I feel that Obama truly is the best candidate for the job. And though I don’t like Clinton, I would still vote for her over McCain. Change needs to happen, and I just know that McCain won’t bring it. I don’t care how much him and W don’t like each other. The problem seems though that a lot of Clinton backers seem to be leaning towards voting for McCain if Obama gets the Democratic nod.
I hate politics.

I’m a political science major and I hate politics, too.

Oh, and on your point about your message title: Let’s say, for example, that Hillary called Barack a bozo. Some 527, not involved with either candidate, could put it in an ad to show that Hillary’s not beinfg a loyal Dem. She said it, but would she want it on a commercial? Probably not.

Good point there on your second comment Roger. Never thought of that.
