We’re Back
We got back Monday afternoon from our visit to Michigan. It was a good trip, though too short as always. The ride home was pretty good considering it rained a good portion of the way, and we had a forced stop of 30 minutes waiting for an accident to clear. Marcia was sleeping at the time, and Nigel was watching a video, so I did a crossword puzzle while waiting.
Bookworm Carnival
The Bookworm Carnival that I am hosting has finally been put together. You can see the PAGE here on my site. The theme was urban / contemporary fantasy. A few books I have read were reviewed, but some good suggestions came along of book that not only have I not read, but not even heard of.
A Day Out With Thomas
My Mom alerted me to a special event at the Greenfield Village in Dearborn the weekend we were there. They were going to have Thomas the Tank Engine there. Nigel has become a HUGE train fan. He has a few of the wooden trains from the Thomas stories and quite a bit of track, and now has even more thanks to my Mom and Dad getting him more during our visit. Any train will do for him. However, it was a real treat to take him on a real train, and get to play with and see other types of toy trains at this event. He had a lot of fun. Pictures of our outing, as well as other pictures of our visit to Michigan, will be posted later this week.
Free Download of Nine Inch Nails’ New Album
My brother-in-law David alerted me to the fact that Nine Inch Nails has released another album available for download. This is their (or his actually, since Trent Reznor is pretty much the only member) second new release in just a matter of months. This one though is free! There will be a “hardcopy” release coming soon. The album is called “The Slip”.
I think that Reznor learned from Radiohead’s experiment. Might as well make the initial download free, because most fans, for the time being, are still willing to buy a real copy to put on the shelf (like me).
Red Wings vs. Flyers Stanley Cup Final in Jeopardy
The chance of a 1997 Cup Finals rematch is starting to look unlikely as the Flyers are now down two games to none against the Penguins. Not that I doubt the Flyers’ talent, but it’s tough to come back against a team that is even more talented. Especially when you are missing one of your top forwards (Simon Gagne) and two of your defensemen (Timonen and Coburn). They could still pull it out, but it’s a huge mountain to climb.
Since the Wings seem headed to their fifth Finals appearance in the last 14 years (they are up 3-0 on the Stars), with the Flyers falling behind I can rest assured that I won’t be sleeping on the couch anytime soon.
