I hate Comcast. Better yet, I loathe Comcast. I had the fortunate circumstances to live in the Dayton, Ohio area where I had a choice between them and TimeWarner. I proudly chose TW. And while here living with my Mother-In-Law, we had a smaller company called Service Electric. SE charges $55 less a month then Comcast for the identical services that I have had in two different cities in Pennsylvania.
So now, with Marcia and I moving to another place, I have been looking into what our options are. Unfortunately, Comcast is the only cable game in town. Again. (I looked into Verizon FiOS, and unfortunately it’s not available.) However, Direct TV is available in our area. It seems that even if I take a high mid-grade package, get my internet through Comcast, and get internet phone service with SunRocket, we can still be cheaper then Comcast’s famed Triple Play after it’s initial 12 month run. So, I am thinking that maybe we should just get right to it and get Direct TV. But I know little of it. I have heard a few people say that it’s a tricky service. Excellent picture and great selection. But subject to issues with weather.
If anyone out there reading this has had any experience with Direct TV, please let me know what your thoughts were. Or if you know someone that has or had Direct TV, what where their thoughts. I would greatly appreciate it.

My dad has DirecTV and swears by it. He has had less problems with it in bad weather than his cable. He has it at his home and beach place, though he recently was able to get the complete FIOS package at his beach place, so he is hooked up that way now. He said he would never go back to Comcrap.

Even with Comcast, I have never had problems with TV or internet due to weather.

My mom and dad had it and everytime there was a storm it would go out. However the nice thing about it was they used to get some kind of cheater card and we got all the movie stations and all the paperviews for free.

My Grandpa has DirecTv and the one thing that I like that I don’t think I get with the local cable company (Charter) we have here is the NHL Network. Now I am not sure if it is with all the DirecTv packages, but it sure is nice to have if you miss a game. Now with the weather he did have some problems losing the picuter but I don’t really remember if it was often as I thought it would have. I am not sure if that helps you pick, but good luck because I know there is the good and bad with both companies.
