Nigel’s Second Haircut
Last Saturday morning we took Nigel for his second haircut. It went really well. He was very well behaved. He was sitting on a flying elephant and occasionally wanted to stand up on the foot pegs, but he didn’t move around and was smiling and talkative the whole time. I was a bit worried, because he has been in terrible-two mode, big time. But he made Mommy and Daddy very proud of the way he behaved.
Now someday in the VERY NEAR future, we will be taking him for pictures.
Home Hunting
Marcia and I started our new home hunting this week. I figured it would be good to start now, considering it might take some time to find anything we like. And as it was, it looked like we got something great right out of the gate.
We went to go look at a 3 bedroom townhouse for rent in the area we wanted on Wednesday. It was only 5 years old and in great shape. It also has a one car garage and a “basement” (which is on the same level as the garage). And half of the basement was finished. It was just $50 over our maximum target, but given all the room it had, and extras, we wanted it. But there was a problem. The owner was a realtor. He had it on the market to sell, then got a lot of interest from people willing to rent. So he opened that idea up. So we went in thinking this would be a great place to rent for a few years until we are ready to buy something. But this guy figured he would just rent it out long enough until he sold it. So before even finishing the application, we walked away from it. Oh well. C’est la vie.
Then, the following day I looked at the listing the agent who is helping us sent, and found another one. A 3 bedroom townhouse and it was only 6 years old. It was a little further away then what I figured Marcia wanted, but she was OK with it. So we went to take a look at it on Thursday. It has been well lived in. It needs a good cleaning (both carpets and some of the walls). But it too had half the basement finished, one car garage. Instead of a nice deck, it has a patio. But as an added bonus, it has a fenced in backyard and a swing set (though it needs some work). And this time around, the owner is looking at it as a long term investment of renting it out. Although she is new to the game, so that has me a little worried.
We ended up putting a deposit on it and should know by Monday if we will be the new tenants.
Book That’s “Up Next”
For those of you that may have noticed, I had “Dune” by Frank Herbert listed as the next book I was going to read now for a few books. I read the book about 17-18 years ago, but have had a strong desire, which has only grown, over the last few months to re-read it. However, my copy is sitting in Marcia’s Grammie’s basement. And we haven’t been able to get over there due to many factors. But just recently David and I started our own little Brew and Book Club. And the next book listed (”The End of Mr. Y” by Scarlett Thomas) is the next book up for us. So “Dune” will have to wait. But not for much longer (see above). My books may have a shelf to sit on soon.

That’s wonderful news about the rental. Sounds like a great a place that just needs a good cleaning (what place doesn’t?).
Congrats! I hope you hear today.
