As I mentioned sometime last week, I have been changing a few things around the site. Updating, deleting, or adding links. (And yes, Roger, you are still made the cut! Like you had to worry.) I also updated the “About Me” page. Just some minor tweaks and changed some pictures. I added the last ten of my favorite album posts to the list on the “My Favorites” page (had been lagging behind a bit there). The movie list is still in need of work though, and I went through the book list and made a few deletions. More may be coming.
Also, I have finished cataloging my BOOKS...

I read Get Fuzzy by Darby Conley every day. It’s great to see a comic where the characters are so well defined. They don’t do things just for the sake of a punchline. Yesterday’s was rather funny. Satchel (the dog) is such a kind hearted soul yet being a few fries short of a “Happy Meal.” But he is also a die-hard sports fan.

I am not a big fan of the NBA, but even I know the Knicks have been pathetic as of late thanks to Isiah Thomas. (Great career on the floor does not always equal a great career in management.)

I have never claimed to know much of the stories in the Bible. However, I do know a lot (more then I should possibly) about the Star Wars movies. Last night the two were combined in the Final of Jeopardy!
My Mother-In-Law, Marcia, and I make a habit of watching Jeopardy! as often as possible. And last night’s final Jeopardy! category was “Biblical Places” (or something close to that). Marcia said to her Mom during the commercial break not to blurt out the answer because she wanted a chance to guess it, seeing as that her Mom is pretty good in Biblical categories. As it was this time around, Marcia actually knew the answer (or guessed correctly, as I did), where my Mother-In-Law had no clue.
I can’t...

On Saturday morning I finished reading “The Mysterium” by Eric McCormack.

I had never heard of the author before until reading “Shelf Monkey” by Corey Redekop. He used him as an outlet of sorts. “Shelf Monkey” is told through emails that the main character writes to McCormack after having met him at a signing. Here is a rundown of what the book is about thanks to Publishers Weekly and Amazon.Com:
Carrick is a fog-shrouded, former mining town-a place of coal smoke, dead bracken and heather-in the Uplands of a country identified only as the Island. Recent...

Nigel’s Hearing Test …
… after months of waiting, finally happened yesterday. The results were very good, even if it took a long time to get them. After using a sonar (I think) type devise to see how the ear drum was registering, they asked either Marcia or I to go into a soundproof booth with Nigel and one of the specialist to play. It didn’t take Nigel long to discover that he was scared of the place.
Marcia went in first, then I relieved her. At one point we gave him his blanket hoping that would help. On the contrary, he buried his face in it. Considering they are looking for facial reactions to the sounds they project into the booth, it turned out to be a struggle. But like...

After my realization that the band who recorded “90125″ had been around a long time before, I decided to go out and buy a couple of their older albums. This was one of the two albums I bought that fateful day, the other being “Close to the Edge”. I honestly can’t remember exactly when I listened to it, because I was so blown away with “CttE”. But eventually I picked up on it’s vibe...

This past weekend I finished reading “The Electric Church” by Jeff Somers. And when I mean that I “finished reading” it, I mean that I decided that I would not continue reading any further.

Here is the book description I read that got me interested found on Amazon.Com before the book was available:
In the near future, the only thing growing faster than the criminal population is the Electric Church, a new religion founded by a mysterious man named Dennis Squalor. The Church preaches that life is too brief to contemplate the mysteries of the universe: eternity is required....

On Saturday, Marcia, Nigel, and I (among many others) attended our nephew Colin’s first birthday party on Saturday. During the party, David was taking pictures of everyone and made mention that no one was smiling or looked happy. So our friend Andy decided to strike a pose and I quickly followed suit.

Aren’t we just the most studliest guys you have ever seen or what?

Glenn Beck (who I have never heard of until this past week) has an idea to truly help stimulate the economy: Give Americans debit cards instead of rebate checks. You can read the whole ARTICLE which was posted on CNN’s web site earlier this week.
Basically he is saying that the money would be put back into the economy instead of stashed away in savings accounts or such. His reasoning comes from what happened with Hurricane Katrina.
After Hurricane Katrina, FEMA needed to get money to victims fast, so they tried something new. Instead of issuing checks, they issued $2,000 emergency debit cards for evacuees...
