Beer Can Appreciation Day
Thanks to Marcia’s Uncle Joe for passing this along. He sent me an ECARD regarding the “holiday.” You can find out a little more about it HERE.

Now, I am not normally one to drink beer from a can. It’s just not as good. Though my Uncle Steve pointed out that Yuengling’s lager actually tastes as good, if not better, from a can then a bottle. I have tried it from a can recently, but couldn’t make a hard and fast conclusion. I think I need to do more research on that. ; )

As for the day, I don’t have any cans of beer on hand, so I will just have to celebrate with a bottle of beer tonight.

No Nadal-Federer Showdown Down Under
For those of us hoping to see another Rafael Nadal - Roger Federer Grand Slam final this weekend, we have been let down. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga knocked out Rafa 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 in the semi-finals today (or while most of us were sleeping). Federer still needs to get by Novak Djokovic in his semi-final later today, and Federer may have the upper hand, having beat Djokovic in the US Open Final back in September.

I know that Tsonga has been playing well, but I don’t think he can beat either Federer or Djokovic.

Heath Ledger’s Death
Obviously a lot of people were shocked at the announcement. While Ledger was not my favorite actor, I still respected him for his craft. I also said that I thought he was a bad choice to play The Joker in the upcoming Batman movie. I saw a trailer just after Christmas and changed my opinion. It is hard to tell from such short clips of the movie, but it sure had oodles of potential.

The most frustrating thing to me regarding his death is the way Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas is reacting to it. They plan on protesting the funeral. (I doubt they will get anywhere close to it.) The reason is that they are very adamant in their beliefs against homosexuality, and the portrayal of such. Now come on! I am not going to tell someone what to believe in, even if I think they are very shortsighted. But protesting his funeral is just too far. By all accounts, Ledger was a devoted father to his daughter Matilda, and now this poor two year old will be without him for the rest of her life. Shouldn’t we spare her this kind of thing (though thankfully she is probably too young to be able to remember these events as she gets older) and his family for losing him at such a young age? Sometimes I think people just go way too far with their opinions and beliefs.

One Response to “Thursday Whatever-ness”

Hey, have you been keeping up with the tennis? I bet TTG last night that Djokovic would beat Federer, and guess what, he did! I’m sure that I predicted that he’d be a definite contender for the number one spot on here last summer. Federer is finally losing his grip on men’s tennis. About flaming time too.
