On Monday night, Marcia and I watched “Balls of Fury”, starring Dan Fogler, George Lopez, James Hong, Maggie Q, and Christopher Walken.

Here is a rundown, thanks to IMDB:
Down-and-out former professional Ping-Pong phenom Randy Daytona (Fogler) is sucked into this maelstrom when FBI Agent Rodriguez (Lopez) recruits him for a secret mission. Randy is determined to bounce back and recapture his former glory, and to smoke out his father’s (Robert Patrick) killer - one of the FBI’s Most Wanted, arch-fiend Feng (Walken). But, after two decades out of the game, Randy can’t turn his life around and avenge his father’s murder without a team of his own. He calls upon the spiritual guidance of blind Ping-Pong sage and restaurateur Wong (Hong), and the training expertise of Master Wong’s wildly sexy niece Maggie (Maggie Q), both of whom also have a dark history with Feng. All roads lead to Feng’s mysterious jungle compound and the most unique Ping-Pong tournaments ever staged.
Also making an appearance is Thomas Lennon, of “Viva Variety” and “Reno 911″ fame. He co-wrote the script.
OK, so this isn’t he greatest comedy I have ever seen. Not even close. However, it still had it’s moments. Not many, mind you, but enough to make it a worthwhile rental. That is if you like that kind of stupid antics comedy.
Even though Walken can be annoying, he sometimes brings dull scripts/parts to life. Not here. Walken is almost a caricature of his usual roles. Wong, who has added some great humor to many roles in his lifetime is hot and cold in this one. And as for Maggie Q, she seriously was there just because of her looks, nothing else. Fogler is a newcomer to me, but did pretty good playing the down and out former star. I think he has some potential. But again, this movie isn’t a great judge of anyone’s talent.
This movie seemed to be trying to gather the audience that loved “Dodgeball”, but failed to come close. But again, it wasn’t an awful movie. Just a weak imitator.
