Red Sox Win World Series Pennant
Hope all those Red Sox fans are satisfied now. They have not only seen their team break their 86 year “curse”, but now have seen their team win two pennants in four years. Like a writer in the Morning Call said (that the Lehigh Valley’s newspaper), they have lost the “lovable” tag when they were lovable losers.
It is also a testament to manager Terry Francona. When the Sox hired Francona, I thought they had made a bad move. Grady Little had done well with the team, and Francona’s track record didn’t dictate that he could lead them to a World Series, let alone win it twice in four years. But like other naysayers, I was wrong. He has proven to be a very good manager.
Congrats to the Red Sox on their victory. And also, hats off to the Rockies for giving those that love Cinderella another chance to waltz around the floor.
Philadelphia Goons (read: Flyers)
The Flyers have shown that they may really turn things around this season. After finishing with the worst record in the NHL last year, they are currently in first place in the Atlantic Division, and have one of the better records in the NHL. I knew this would happen. They had a lot of young talent last year that were suffering from the cliche sophomore jinx, and other top players were having off years. But something else is happening this year with the Flyers that is NOT something to be proud of.
Two of the Flyers have been suspended for brutal hits so far. Jesse Boulerice and Steve Downie both have been suspended for 20 games or more (one was suspended for 25) for hits that were uncalled for, and just a couple of nights ago, Todd Jones added himself to the list by sending Patrice Bergeron to the hospital. Now, Jones’ hit was not nearly as vicious as those given by Boulerice and Downie. However, like Scott Burnside says in his recent ARTICLE on ESPN’s web site, enough is enough. Something needs to be done to send the Flyers management a messasge.
I am glad to see the Flyers playing so well, but hate the fact the people are starting to talk about them bringing back the “Broad Street Bullies” days of the mid 70’s.
New Record
I have MENTIONED before that while waiting around for Molson to do his “business” for the last time at night, I usually gaze up and see how many planes I can spot flying. I have never been in double digits before, until last night. I saw fourteen. To Molson’s credit, he took longer then normal, and after doing this for a while, I know where to look for the “lanes”. But we still were only out there for a five minutes at the most.
Finally Decided
I have been starting many books and putting them down, after ditching “Weaveworld” by Clive Barker recently. I figured it was going to be one of those times when nothing seems to take hold. But this time around, the very next book grabbed me. Though honestly, it was touch and go there at first. Once I figured out what the author was doing, I was good to go. By the way, the book is “The Tooth Fairy” by Graham Joyce, and rather interestingly one of the main character’s name is Clive.

Yeah to the Red Sox! Colorado had no business being there. Plus they beat the Phillies, however, that isn’t a hard thing to do.

Why did Colorado have no business being there? They lost 2 one-run games, and one game that was 6-5 after 7 innings. The fact that game 1 was a blowout is conceded.
Everyone is talking about Red Sox dominance, when in fact 3 of the 4 games could have gone either way. A truly dominating performance would not allow for 3 games to be that close.
