He’s Officially A Boy
Nigel took a big step towards being a little boy yesterday. While walking (actually running) around with Marcia outside in the afternoon, he fell and skinned his knees.

I suspect we have a couple of years before he starts bringing insects and frogs into the house for us to see.

Dead Mouse
However, Nigel doesn’t need to bring them in for us to already have them in the house. Yesterday afternoon, Marcia went to do some laundry and found a dead mouse in the washing machine. I had to fish it out when I got home. I had noticed a faint smell of something when I went through the laundry room in the morning to go to work, but just thought it was the towel that we dry Molson off with. It is a bit overdue to be washed. Boy that towel smelled sweet compared to the inside of the washing machine when I was retrieving the mouse.

Dinner With Jose
I had dinner last night with my former co-worker Jose. This is the third time since leaving CHL that we have gotten together. Like the first time, we met at the Hotel Bethlehem. Thursday is jazz night, so there was a good jazz trio playing (piano, stand-up bass, and drums). And we ended up talking about books and Joe Zawinul for a good half hour after we finished dinner.

As always with Jose, I had a good time and enjoyed the company and a good meal.

FIRE!!
After I got home from dinner last night, Marcia and I were discussing some things, and we were trying to find the check book. I went into the bedroom to find it and noticed a big orange glow (it was quite dark elsewhere) across the street, but well behind things directly across the street. I wasn’t sure what it was, until I saw flames leaping over the trees. I went running to the living room saying that there must be something on fire across the street, thinking that one of the houses along the main road we are off of when blazing. Not hearing any sirens or the volunteer fire departments main siren calling everyone to the fire house, I was worried that we might need to do something. I then ran outside to head over in that direction to see if there was something I could do. It was then that I heard the high school marching band start playing. It was a pep rally and bonfire.

Marcia commented that they had had bonfires when she was in high school, but they were never that big. Out of curiosity, I drove by it this morning. What was left of the bonfire was still glowing orange and there were faints signs of smoke.

Nigel The Builder
Nigel loves playing with the building blocks. He usually would only get a few together and knock them down. Or just have fun dumping the bag and shuffle them around the room. However, lately he has been wanting to actually build things higher and higher. His knowledge of where to put them is still in the learning stage, and from time to time I help him so that he makes a solid tower, as I did a couple of nights ago. The proof is below.

As you can see, some of the pictures he paused to take with his stuffed monkey Monty, and one with Marcia. He also was putting them away himself. Well, he got half the bag full and then dumped the blocks again.

Nigel The Show Aficionado
One of the things Nigel loves to play with is shoes. Whether his or someone else’s. Last night he discovered Marcia’s sneakers in our room and tried them on.

He couldn’t get very far in them, but had fun trying.

Hi, I saw from my Site Meter that either you or one of your readers visited my blog, particularly the review I did for A Song for Arbonne. Just thought I’d stop by to say hi. I enjoyed your list of favourite books; I have read many of them myself.

I was on Amazon.ca yesterday, and at the top it did say “Treat Yourself” along with some items off my wish list. Perhaps they changed it.

Thanks for stopping by. And that was me visiting. I saw the link show up in my WordPress dashboard that someone linked to the photo. Glad you enjoyed “A Song for Arbonne”. The three books I have read by Kay were an absolute joy.

As for the “Treat Yourself” or “You Know You Want It”, it was rather recent. Maybe Amazon.Ca does both and it’s at random. Heck, maybe Amazon.Com does that too, but I just had only noticed the one.

Lydia skinned her knee, not for the first time, jumping off of something yesterday. Yet she, as far as I am able to ascertain, is not a boy; I’m just sayin’.

Good call there, Roger. I should watch how I word things.
