(Late) Happy Grandparents Day!
Sunday was Grandparents Day, and I forgot to mention that. I hope that all the grandparents out there had a nice day, and got to spend it with you grandchildren. Then funny thing for me was so quickly thinking about my parents and my Mother-In-Law instead of my grandparents, even though three of them passed away in the last year. I just wish Nigel could have spent part of the day with all three of his grandparents.

Joe Zawinul Dies
One of the two founders of a favorite band of mine PASSED AWAY early this morning, Joe Zawinul, keyboardist of Weather Report. He founded the band with saxophonist Wayne Shorter in 1970, after both musicians had spent a good portion of time as the main duo in Miles Davis’ fusion band. Weather Report introduced the world to many other great jazz musicians, most important to me bassists Miroslav Vitous, Alphonso Johnson, and Jaco Pastorius. I always enjoyed Zawinul’s work with the band, especially how he mixed things up within the structure of the band. At times he was very melodic and at other times rather spacey. He will be missed.

$100 Winner!
Marcia won another $100 on an instant ticket yesterday. She took a picture of it, but I don’t have access to it at this moment. It was the same game that she played LAST TIME she won that much. This time however, she won $10, but there was a bonus that said “x10″ next to it.

iPod Fun
OK, so I probably should have known this before, but I didn’t realize what else I could do with my iPod. I found out that I can have a contact list, with names, phone numbers, and web site/email addresses. There are also four games, including Solitaire, and a music trivia, where part of a song is played from your iPod and you have to guess what song it is out of five while the points go down the longer it takes you to decide.

Nigel’s Going Out
Nigel has had a habit that is growing and growing. He loves to go out somewhere. Maybe because he’s bored with playing with his toys. Or maybe he just loves being in the car. It happened again yesterday after waking him up from his nap. He was very happy, until he saw his shoes. He was late for dinner, but didn’t care. He kept grabbing his shoes. I put them on, because sometimes that pacifies him, but it wasn’t enough. He kept crying and pointing down the stairs. So we decided to go to the grocery store to get a couple of things, and took the long way to get there. This isn’t the first time this has happened. There were a few times this weekend were I took him out for a drive with nowhere to go because he was adamant about going out.

What was really cute at the grocery store yesterday was his trying to get the attention of a little red-headed girl. She was probably somewhere between three and four years old. We walked by and stopped to look at something, and she was facing him, both sitting in their carts. Nigel smiled at her, started to wave, and then said, very loudly I might add, “Hello!” He’s got to be the world’s youngest flirt.
