Appalachian State? Yes, lowly Appalachian State was scheduled as one of those powderpuff teams that the big football schools usually play early in the season. App State was going to Ann Arbor, the Big House, to play the Wolverines of Michigan.

AND THEY BEAT THEM!!!

34-32!! They blocked a field goal in the final seconds to preserve the upset!
