Lately Nigel has been experimenting with feeding himself with utensils. (He has been feeding himself finger food for a long time.) The results at times are messy, but haven’t been that bad.

Though yogurt is probably not the best thing to start him on.
Last weekend he had a major breakthrough. Not only feeding mostly everything himself, but it was his first real “big boy” dinner.

Earlier today I finished reading “Anthem”, the famed novella by Ayn Rand.

I got this courtesy of the Project Gutenberg. They have many books in text format, and some in audio book format. What amazes me is that “Anthem” is available in trade paperback form and clocks in at 256 pages. I pasted the story to a MS Word document, using 10 point font, and it was only 40 pages! I would think that the font size on that trade paperback edition would be big enough to read from across the street.
From Amazon.Com and the “review” by AudioFile...

Marcia Update
It is only a few days, but Marcia is continuing to feel better. She really believes now that the doctors were correct, and that some of her meds were causing rebounds. She has had pain everyday since leaving the hospital, but hasn’t taken anything for it, and it has gone away. Her mood is much better, which probably helps the cause. Stress can only make them worse.
While in the hospital, they had her go for another MRI. This is her third in seven years. Her last one was just two years ago. They found a cyst in one of her sinus cavities. It is nothing serious, but may need to be treated. Given what Marcia has seen with her migraines, it doesn’t seem to be a cause of them.
She...

Earlier today I finished reading “Seven Types of Ambiguity” by Elliot Perlman.

Posted on Amazon.Com, the following synopsis is from Publishers Weekly’s review of the novel:
By copping the title of William Empson’s classic of literary criticism, Australian writer Perlman sets a high bar for himself, but he justifies his theft with a relentlessly driven story, told from seven perspectives, about the effects of the brief abduction of six-year-old Sam Geraghty by Simon Heywood, his mother Anna’s ex-boyfriend. Charismatic, unemployed Simon is...

Dreams
I am sure most people are like me. Their dreams are very surreal. Things happen for no reason. One minute you are in someone’s house, and two seconds later you are in another building that is on the other side of the city/state/country with different people. People change right before your eyes, or show up without reason. Do you know what I mean?
Well, last night I had a dream that in some respects made sense. It was still fantastical, like a book or a movie that I would be interested in reading/seeing. But other then one odd occurrence (finding the Chicago Cubs’ beloved Wrigley Field in the middle of Lake Michigan), it all had a normal flow to it. Now this is coming from someone that...

Marcia’s Update
Marcia is home. There was a feeling that nothing was going to get done during her stay. The first doctor that saw her couldn’t understand why she was admitted. I think it was a matter of them not getting the necessary information from her family doctor. After parts of three days and two nights, they didn’t get to far though. They started her on a preventative med to fight the migraines. She is to follow up with the doctor in 10 days to see how it is working. In the mean time, she is to stop taking other certain meds to help “detox” her system....

Many of you know that my wife Marcia suffers from frequent migraines. Over the last year or so, they have become even more frequent. Also, most of the doctors she has seen lately have not been able to or just won’t prescribe things that Marcia knows works. To the doctors’ credit, it could be an addictive drug.
Marcia had a latest round of issues today. She has another migraine coming on, and she also had an appointment with a pain management specialist, a doctor who strictly deals with patients with chronic pain. He quickly told her that her problems were too complex (her migraines are partially triggered hormonally and possibly tied to TMJ), and gave her a phone number to a place that he said would provide a team...

I know everyone has been on the edge of their computer desk seat, waiting for me comment about the other half of the NHL and the new uniform systems being introduced. Well, the wait is over! Here is the second half of the league and their new sweaters.
One note before moving on: I have gone back and posted the two sets of sweaters that didn’t change, just for continuity, and therefore will be posting all the sweaters this time around, whether they changed or not.
New York Rangers
OK, so I just said that I was going to post pictures of all the sweaters regardless of a change or not, but I am not posting the Rangers yet. Why? Because official pictures haven’t been released yet. However, it is...

Nigel has a few obsessions. One is clicking closed any seatbelt on his various seats, boosters, and high chairs. And one day when my Mother-In-Law was watching him, he started saying “cluh” for click. He has been doing it more and more, and last night he just wouldn’t stop.

His concentration on clicking is amazing.

Nigel Update
Since I changed jobs in the past couple of months, and that we moved, we have had to change Nigel’s doctor. So this past Thursday he went in, though mostly to get a referral for his allergy test. For those that don’t remember, Nigel had shown an allergy to cow’s milk and eggs. But it was only topical, meaning that the skin that was touched would get red and he sometimes even got some hives. The doctor said that he should have it checked again as he got older, and we knew that some children outgrow those early allergies. His test is Wednesday, and it’s referred to as the “Milk Challenge.” Given that Nigel has seemed to tolerate some dairy products, and that his reaction...
