I have quite a few days out of town planned in the next two weeks. Marcia, Nigel, and I will be heading out to Detroit for my Grandma Glonek’s funeral tomorrow morning. We will be getting back on Thursday. Then on Monday I will be heading out to Glens Falls, New York for work for a few days. So even though I will have access to the internet some of those days, and even be home, I still am going to take a break. With everything going on right now, I just want to be with my thoughts, or escape those thoughts by being with my family, or even just reading.

My team’s back in first place. It comes from a combination of the Freedom beating Hanover 837-713, and the Edmonton Bombers (the two-time defending champs) losing to the Minnesota Hawks 1002-810. Though really it matters not. Like I said earlier, the biggest goal is to finish in the top four. Those teams get a “second chance” with the playoff format we use (the same one used by the real AFL), being able to lose the first game of the playoffs and not getting knocked out. Totally exciting match from start to finish. Great shots by both. Federer’s serve was his biggest weapon, having over 20 aces. Nadal however was using great ground strokes, even some best reserved for his favorite surface of clay. It helped since Rafa isn’t the best server on the circuit (and he only had one ace the whole match).
Federer equaled the great feat of Bjorn Borg by winning five Wimbledon titles in a row, and the great Swede was on hand to witness history....

My grandma Glonek passed away last night. That is three grandparents in nine months. I knew I was very lucky even back in elementary school that I had gotten to meet all four of my grandparents, but not only just meet them, know them quite well. I was 19 years old when my grandpa Glonek passed away. And I got to experience another 18 years with my other three grandparents. And though I expected their passes soon, I didn’t expect all three to leave us in such a short span.
I remember visiting my grandpa Glonek’s grave very soon after he had died. My grandma had bought a dual headstone, so her name and birthdate was already on it. It was strange to see, and made me cringe. My thoughts at the time where that I wouldn’t...
