Here is three more great tunes for the summer. My opinion of course, and they don’t necessarily have anything to do with the summer, though one of them does.
Led Zeppelin - “The Ocean”
Yes - “Hold On”

After I got home from work, Marcia, Nigel, and I headed down to see our friends Andy and Yvonne. It has been a while since we have seen them, especially Yvonne who has been traveling for her “second job.” (She’s a writer.) Nigel had been in a cranky mood for much of the day, and it sort of continued while we were visiting. The biggest issue now is that anything he can reach is something that he must have, therefore if you take it away from him the tantrums start. They don’t necessarily last long, especially since we brought his blocks along, which he loves.
We ordered out from a local steakhouse, though I think it may be a chain. It was a great choice since both Marcia and...

A 992-902 defeat of the Glendale Sparrows has given my team the minor Premiership. It means that I will finish in first place regardless of this week’s match against the Los Angeles Highwaymen. It is great to see that with some attention paid to the stats that I could turn my team around. For those that might not remember, my team won their first game three season ago and then promptly lost the next 8 in a row. I kept looking at the stats, but by just browsing I didn’t see all the nuances. Once I put together a spread sheet and found a great site will all the stats I needed that pasted nicely into it, I was home free. Drafting has also helped. I have picked up some great players in two of the mid-season drafts (which we...

Yesterday afternoon, Marcia and I watched “The Fountain”, starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz.

The following plot description was found at both Amazon.Com and the IMDB:
Three stories - one each from the past, present, and future - about men in pursuit of eternity with their love. A conquistador in Mayan country searches for the tree of life to free his captive queen; a medical researcher, working with various trees, looks for a cure that will save his dying wife; a space traveler, traveling with an aged tree encapsulated...

Pearls Before Swine
A couple of recent entries to the comic world from Stephan Pastis and his strip “Pearls Before Swine” caught my eye. Actually I read it everyday, but these two I found rather funny.
The first is dealing with “trolls” on your blog.

Then the one from this morning regarding iPhones.

If that was true I would have signed up already.
Loud Beach
The famed Maho...

Here are some more songs for summer. And two of them are actually summer related. The third is just a great classic rock tune
Joe Satriani - “Summer Song”
Van Halen - “Ice Cream Man”
Here are three more songs that seem to give me the feeling of summer. As before, they are the type of songs that I would be playing at a higher volume then usual, with the windows rolled down in the car. And like some of the others, they are not necessarily songs about summer. Just great tunes for the summer.
Santana - “Oye Como Va”
Van Morrison - “Moondance”

Security of Securities
Last Thursday I logged onto a web site to see how my IRA was doing. (They are doing very well by the way, doubling my initial investment in just short of seven years.) Fortunately I remembered the password, though I hadn’t logged on in months. The following day at work, while on lunch, I decided to look at them again, but for some reason couldn’t get the password to work. I tried a few different variations, but it just wouldn’t let me on. I figured that I didn’t remember it correctly from the night before, and I would figure it out later.
Then comes a letter in the mail yesterday. It seems that my attempts to remember the correct password alerted their security...

Inspired by two things I saw on the internet recently (one was from Roger), I have been thinking about songs that seem to be made for the summer. Driving around with the windows down (maybe even the top, if you are lucky enough to have a convertible), with the music playing at a loud (but safe) volume. Of course with low humidity, too. Now the songs that come to mind for me aren’t necessarily about summer themselves. Just tunes that I like to listen to during the summer, as described above.
So here is the first three that say “summer” to me.
Deep Purple - “Highway Star”
Hello Nigel
Marcia and I have been a bit worried (but not losing sleep over) the fact that Nigel hasn’t been saying anything really that could be considered a word. But over the last month or so we have seen (or more properly heard) things that could probably considered words. I MENTIONED before that he says night night, or something close to it. He still says that, though not as frequently. But then again anytime we say it’s night night time, he grabs his blanket and heads to his bedroom. Sometimes it comes with him saying night night.
But this past week he started saying hello, and it appears that he knows...
