Another win for the Philadelphia Freedom this weekend with a 801-707 victory over Richmond. When the scores first started coming in, it looked like it was going to be awful close, and I had a good chance of losing. But a few of the players I had left pulled in some decent numbers, then the player that Richmond classified as the captain didn’t play. That was a big help.
This coming week is the big rivalry. It is against the Jersey Shore Crushers. Brian, the guy that runs that team, is from Philadelphia himself. I read his BLOG when I can (actually a LiveJournal, but that’s just the “brand name”). As long as the league runs and we are both a part of it, we...

Anaheim Ducks 2, Detroit Red Wings 1, OT
I watched the whole game yesterday afternoon. What a disappointment. The Wings outplayed the Ducks. Especially in the third period. They were leading 1-0 and kept hitting posts or getting robbed by Jean-Sebastian Giguere. Then with under two minutes left the Wings get called for a penalty. Before the face-off the Ducks pulled their goalie, so they had a 6-on-4. Scott Niedermayer sent a quick shot to the goal and Lidstrom put his stick down to block it and ended up deflecting it over Hasek’s left shoulder for a goal.
DAMN!
I just had a feeling that spelled doom for the Wings. Then it happened. Brett Lebda coughed up the puck between the circles in...

I mentioned that I was listening to all of Rush’s songs in an A to Z format lately. And I mentioned that there are many songs that they haven’t played in year, or have never played live, and probably forgot how to play. The thing is that some of the these songs are my favorites.
Territories from “Power Windows”
One of the real treats of this song for me was hearing it for the first time live. As in, I had never heard the song before until seeing Rush during the “Hold Your Fire” tour at Joe Louis Arena.
It has an oriental flavor to it. The lyrics, for the first time in a while, had shown just the slightest hint of Rush’s sense of...

It appeared this afternoon I made a major score for myself. Being a fan of Neil Gaiman, I was aware of a book of his, a collection of short stories, called “Angels and Visitations” which has been out of print.

I believe that most, if not all, the stories in the book later appeared in “Smoke and Mirrors”, which I read and REVIEWED recently. About six months ago I had been to a Borders book store not far from where we live, and ran across a copy of it. I was shocked, and wanted it badly, but...

Last night Marcia and I finished watching “Night at the Museum” starring Ben Stiller, and co-starring a whole host of actors and actresses that include Owen Wilson, Robin Williams, Carla Gugino, Mizuo Peck, Ricky Gervais, Patrick Gallagher, Bill Cobbs, Dick Van Dyke, and Mickey Rooney.

The movie is about an unemployed New Yorker Larry Daley (Stiller) who is about to be evicted from yet another apartment. Many bad business ventures have led him to this, and also his divorce. It is also a sticky point with his son Nick. However, Larry finds a job as the night watchman at the Museum of Natural History....

Thanks to David for his hard work in getting the site hooked up. And for those that care, the header up top changes. Well, only the little “alien” in the middle does.

On Saturday afternoon, I finished reading “The Samurai’s Garden” by Gail Tsukiyama. This book was a Christmas gift from David and Catherine.

For a brief synopsis, I have stolen part of Nancy Pearl’s review for Library Journal found at Amazon.Com:
Seventeen-year-old Stephen leaves his home in Hong Kong just as the Japanese are poised to invade China. He is sent to Tarumi, a small village in Japan, to recuperate from tuberculosis. His developing friendship with three adults and a young woman his own age brings him to the beginnings of wisdom about love, honor, and loss.
The...

My WordPress software that runs the site is out of date. My brother-in-law David has been telling me that I need to update it. So today when looking into it, he found out that my current theme won’t work with the updates. So he is working on putting together a new look for me. He is using a template, but it looks pretty darn cool. Not sure when it will all happen, but it will be obvious when you see it.

There was good news and bad news for my team this week. The bad news first; Brendan Goddard of the St. Kilda Saints went down with a torn ACL in the early stages of their game this past weekend. So I have lost (as has St. Kilda) one of my best players for the rest of the season. The good news was that even with Goddard’s measley 16 point performance, my team’s game wasn’t hurt. They beat Hippo Regius 846-559.
One side note as well, the Los Angeles Highwaymen tied the record my team set last week for the most points in a game with 1023. Boy, records are meant to be broken, but matched...
