Red Wings
So, if you hadn’t noticed, the Red Wings were eliminated from the playoffs on Tuesday night. I am disappointed, yet still happy. They had a great season. Since the inception of the salary cap, the Wings remain one of the best teams in the league. And this year, without two of their leaders (Yzerman and Shanahan), they still continued to be a dominant force with young players. The future looks bright.

Ducks
As I mentioned before, I picked the Anaheim Ducks to win the Cup at the start of the season. This is one of a few times the team I picked at least made it to the Finals. I had correctly picked the Wings in the 1995 Finals, the Flyers in the 1997 Finals, and the Devils in the 2001 Finals. Of course, I correctly predicted that the Avalanche would win the Cup in 1996. (I also correctly picked the Wings in 1998, but I don’t count that one because it was totally bias since the Wings had won the year before.) It should be a good Finals.

I am also with Barry Melrose. “The Mullet” picked the Ducks at the start of the season, and I agree with him that they should be the Senators in 6 games.

Predators
It appears that Mr. Jim Balsillie, the man that almost bought the Pittsburgh Penguins and moved them to Kitchener, Ontario (yes, you read that correctly), has made an agreement to buy the floundering (financial only) Nashville Predators. I read about this thanks to the ESPN ARTICLE.

Now, the rumors floating around were that Mr. Balsillie didn’t get to buy the Pens because the league didn’t want to lose Pittsburgh. And they stepped in to help negotiate the arena deal for the Pens so they wouldn’t move to Kansas City. Why? Because they knew the Preds were next to be sold, and that moving the team out of Nashville would be a good thing, and that Kansas City was the first choice for the relocated Preds. Now, will Balsillie move the team to KC, or will he try to move the team to the farmlands of Kitchener?

Coyotes
I appears that we have coyotes (or grey foxes) living next door. The way my Mother-In-Law’s house is situated, it’s on a corner. So both properties that butt up against hers also butt up against each other. One of them is a house that hasn’t been lived in a while (though it looks a bit rough, it’s not rundown looking). The other neighbor noticed that there was a dog looking creature living under the shed and had pups/cubs. Yesterday I finally got a good look at the pups/cubs. I went in to look up pictures of both coyotes and foxes and I am thinking it’s coyotes.

The neighbor’s son-in-law said that we should call the authorities and have someone come and take them. But they would probably be put down. Marcia’s sister Catherine however made a great suggestion in contacting PETA to see if there is anything we can do to help relocate them. I emailed them last night, so I am looking forward to what they will say.

Blackhawks
Nigel has taken the bottle (actually a non-spill Nuby) and run with it. Just a couple of days ago Marcia gave Nigel the “bottle” to see if he would drink it himself. There have been times when he would hold it but not get it tilted far enough for himself to be able to drink. But it only took two days for him to learn it. Now when he gets his “bottle” he runs around the house with it and continually drinks. So that’s one less thing Marcia and I need to sit down and do for him.

(And if you are wondering what I titled this part “Blackhawks” it’s because it was the closest thing I could come up with since the other non-NHL section was still an NHL nickname, and the Hawks have been playing like little kids the last few years … sorry John.)
