I have mentioned before that I am a member of BookMooch.Com, a great site for trading books. I got a request a week ago for one of the books I have. Lately I have been buying the padded envelopes directly from the Post Office because it’s easier then making a stop somewhere else to get them. I know, it’s a bit lazy, and is actually more expensive (though only a quarter more a piece). Well that laziness just came back to bite me in the butt.
The envelope opened somewhere along the line and the book fell out. But here’s the kicker - the idiot carrier STILL DELIVERED THE EMPTY ENVELOPE!! I don’t know if it’s just me, but shouldn’t they be sending the package back to me and/or informing me that it was lost. Now I look like a moron to the person that was to receive the book, as does the United States Postal Service (though looking like morons is something they excel in at times). Between this kind of thing and damaging packages to the point of no recognition, it infuriates me how little I can do to avoid them. That is without spending more money to use UPS or FedEx.
Like a few things in our world, I really sometimes view the USPS as a necessary evil that we just have to put up with.

What I don’t understand is the constant increases in stamp prices. Seems to me if they would stop having this artist and that artist do special Elvis stamps or some other crap and just stick to the American Flag they may not need to increase it two cents every 6 to 12 months. Either that or just make it a buck and leave us alone for a few decades. I think some one over at the Postmasters Generals office must get a bonus for annoying the public with having to use 1 and 2 cent stamps.

Personally, I don’t trust the USPS to deliver anything I send out. Did you ever look at anything you receive directly from us? More than likely, there is a pound of packing tape all over the package. I also have received packages that are ripped open, or look like a ten wheeler drove over it, or, just like your case, is TOTALLY empty. I shook in my shoes last week, sending Brian a history book he needed for his class. It was an expensive book, and was going next day air. I was amazed that it actually arrived the next day and was in one piece.
