Marcia took Nigel to the allergist this morning. Given the fact that he has been breaking out after drinking regular milk, his pediatrician suggested talking to the allergist to see what was going on. They did a quick test and found that Nigel is allergic to milk and eggs. However, this may still be a temporary baby thing. They said to bring him back in six months and they will test him again.
But they also said that he doesn’t have any problems with the soy milk. It had seemed at first that Nigel was getting a similar, though less reaction to the soy, so we were a bit concerned. The doctor today also informed Marcia that soy milk can be purchased in non-perishable form. This should help him in getting used to it. Nigel hadn’t really taken to the soy milk we had been given him, but we had been refrigerating it. After talking to my brother-in-law David this weekend, we realized that we never warmed it up for him. Since then Nigel has been drinking much more of the soy milk, though still his milk intake is far less then the formula. Fortunately though this should be the REAL END to the formula. (Listen carefully and on the wind you will hear Marcia and I cheering.)
Nigel also continues to gain more confidence in walking on his own. This past weekend he has been taking as much as six to seven steps between two people without falling. We usually start off rather close, and I slowly start moving back with each turn around. Hopefully soon he will realize that he can do it on his own, because he constantly wants to walk, and it gets hard on our backs bending over holding his hand.
