“Cold Mountain” by Charles Frazier Marcia’s Lottery Luck
Dec 07

Even with all that has been going on, I got to try a couple of beers. One Marcia bought for me when she went shopping during our return trip to Michigan.

The beer that she bought me was Smithwick’s Irish Ale. Smithwick is part of the Guinness family and one of the biggest reasons she bought it for me. It was a good Irish ale, though not incredible. It would be a good one to get from time to time to have a good non-specialty beer.

The second one was Leinenkugel’s Apple Spice. For those that know my beer tastes, this was one that I would obviously have to try. I only know of, and had, one other apple brew, that being Unibroue’s Éphémère. (I POSTED about it a while back.) Leinie’s has always seemed along the lines of Sam Adams to me. Maybe more daring in trying different styles (at least until ol’ Sam pulled out a Cranberry Lambic), but not quite as good as Sam. This particular beer I enjoyed. Well, at least for the first 3 or 4 swigs of it. Too many spices working with the apple taste which was too strong to begin with. It maybe something that hard cider fans would enjoy.
