I hope everyone has a SAFE, PROSPEROUS, BLESSED, and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

As promised, here are the pictures taken during our trip to Detroit for Christmas. We had a big get together at my brother Brian’s place on Christmas Eve, however we didn’t take a pictures there. Though even if we wanted to it wouldn’t have been many. Due to time contraints we all opened our presents at the same time. Boy, you should have seen the mess we all made.
Here are a couple of pictures of Nigel and I lounging on the bed of the hotel we have been staying at a lot lately.
Then on Christmas Day, Nigel was given some HotWheels as a gift....

As I mentioned earlier (and how many posts do I start that way?), Nigel had two birthday parties. One in Pennsylvania. And one in Michigan. The following pictures are some of the shots we got during that second party in Michigan.
So how does a good birthday boy start his day? With a bath, of course.
Then he goes downstairs and admires the sign that his Aunt Jodi had made special for the occasion.

Then he goes outside (where it is unseasonably warm) to admire the...

As I mentioned earlier, I would post pictures of our recent trips to Detroit. Here is the batch from our trip out to Detroit and our Thanksgiving get together.
First we have Nigel playing with his toys in the hotel room. We have been lucky, he has adjusted well to his surroundings quickly.

Here Nigel is wearing my Tigers hat during the second day of our drive out.

This next picture I am posting because to the far right in my late Grandfather. This was a week before he died.
There was a quick joke with Marcia one year about getting loot for Christmas. Being the musical person she is, it was quick to turn it around and say, “I didn’t get a lute, but I got …” I was reminded of this by reading Paulo’s POST about what loot he got for Christmas.
Though I didn’t get a lute, my loot did contain some musical type items. Here is the rundown.
The Trip Home
We made it home yesterday without any problems. In fact, the two day ride home was pretty uneventful. The first part was very quiet as a matter of fact. During the 15-20 minute drive to get from my parents house to downtown Detroit, Nigel fell asleep. Marcia and I had to wake him up at our first stop of the day two and a half hours later. Marcia slept for part of it as well, so it was just me and the road. We got into Pittsburgh in good time, and ordered some food to be delivered to the hotel. (Had a really good Gyro.)
The second day went even faster then the first. We have come to realize that though Pittsburgh is a good in-between place, it is also closer to the Lehigh Valley then it is...

Like we did during our stay at Thanksgiving, we took Nigel to get pictures at the Sears studio by my brother Todd and sister-in-law Angie’s. They do a great job, and we were so impressed with the job and price the last time, we couldn’t pass up Christmas pictures of Nigel. One of the shots I took with him, since Marcia took a couple last time. And then we both hopped in for a photo. So here they are.

We split the trip us, staying in a hotel in Greentree, Pennsylvania. It is located about five miles south of downtown Pittsburgh. A pretty nice Hampton Inn. This was our third time in the hotel, and though they are undergoing renovations, it is still a nice place.
The drive from the Lehigh Valley to Pittsburgh was bad. Rained the whole way. And there was a lot of spray from surrounding cars. I never knew I could drive so far, and get to where I wanted to go, without seeing more then three feet in front of the car.
The drive this morning though was much nicer. Didn’t hit any rain until we were just around the corner of my parents.
Of course our plans have been altered before we even go here. It seems that...

We are heading out again to see the family for Christmas. Since last year we didn’t get to see everyone for either Christmas or Thanksgiving because of Nigel’s arrival, we set out to spend both with them this year. (Though my parents did come in for a week after Nigel was born.)
Looking forward again to seeing everyone.
