(insert expletive here)!
Our trip to Detroit to visit my family and spend Thanksgiving and Nigel’s Birthday was great. Until everyone got the flu. Unfortunately Marcia, Nigel, and I didn’t seem to get it until the trip home. We had to make many stops on Monday, and wound up stopping in Harmarsville, Pennsylvania because we just couldn’t make it any farther.
Today was a real trip. I actually didn’t start feeling bad until AFTER we got to the hotel last night. So it was a real challenge to drive across most of the state feeling like I was ready to pass out.
More about out trip later. Gotta rest now.

Nigel got a flu shot back in October. I have never gotten one. And it had been about 12-13 years since I had the flu.

The flu shot does not cover the stomach “flu”. The flu shot is for influenza, which is a cold like virus. The use of “stomach flu” is misused and many think the flu shot will prevent the stomach flu. That’s not the case. Do a little searching, and you’ll see.

Yes - Jodi is correct. The term “stomach flu” is a misnomer. Most use “flu” in conjunction with “more than a cold - less than pneumonia”.
Ultimately, the flu shot is a gamble on the construction of the shot and its effectiveness. I am not sure the who or what decides this, but every year “they” make a best guess as the most viable flu viral stands out there and the flu shot is concocted as a result. IF you are exposed to a strand that did not make this “greatest hits” list, you will get the flu. They only people that really should get a flu shot are young children, elder people and those with immune system irregularities or other continual health issue (asthma as an example.
