Drop the Puck
Boy, the new NHL season started and I barely noticed or mentioned it. Too many things on my mind lately. And also I had decided not to get the Center Ice package this year to save some money, which turned out for the best since we are moving.
The biggest news items have been things off the ice. Revenue was higher last season then expected, so the salary cap went up and the players received money from the escrow account. Not sure how much percentage wise though. For those of you that don’t know, under the current CBA a small percentage of the players’ salary is put into escrow during the season. This is because the players’ salaries can only account for a certain percentage...

So the interview on Monday went extremely well. So well that I was offered the job before leaving. I gave notice today at my current employer, so my last day is October 24th. I am very excited about this move. As I said, this was the company I wanted to work for in the first place. It will get me back to what I was doing a couple of months ago, designing with a high level of detail. I will also be using the same two software programs that I was using two months ago. And there is another raise involved.
Mostly, this gives me a job in Bethlehem opening up the way to Marcia, Nigel, Molson, and I moving there. We will be staying with my Mother-In-Law temporarily until we get a few bills under control. Then when spring breaks we...

Back on Saturday I finished reading “The Namesake” by Jhumpa Lahiri. This was her debut novel, and second publication after the Pulitzer Prize winning short story collection “Interpreter of Maladies”, which I read and REVIEWED back in April.

When I had read the description at the time that Amazon.Com had about the book, I was intrigued. It was before I had read “Interpreter of Maladies”. For some reason I saw a lot of humor coming from this, but in fact was not the case. Not that it’s a melancholy story either....

“Listen to them roar - Tigers in four!”
— FOX Sports Announcer
Yes, the Tigers defeated the mighty Yankees tonight, eliminating them from the playoffs. Now the Tigers face the Oakland A’s In the American League Championship. It is a rematch of sorts of 1972 when the A’s beat the Tigers on the way to three World Series victories in a row. It will be the first trip for the Tigers since 1987.

The Tigers celebrate their victory.
The Tigers have sorely lacked pitching for years, and it is exactly that which is leading them. And other then Kenny Rogers, the rest of the...

Been a few busy weeks and I haven’t been able to post much. I have been trying to spend more time with Nigel and Marcia (though not always successfully.) And been trying to spend my available time reading. (I had missed it and have also been reading some good books as of late.) But first and foremost I have had other things on my mind. Not many that I used to work with know about my blog and no one that I am aware of that I currently work with knows anything about it at all. So I am going to blow off a little steam.
I am not very happy at all with my new job. It has been one thing after another. Their first impression to me was horrible. The first four days where filled with no communication and attitudes that I was...

All the way back on Saturday afternoon, I finished reading “For One More Day” by Mitch Albom.

Like the past two books that Albom has published (one fiction, one non-fiction memoirs), it deals with life and death. “Tuesdays With Morrie” centered on his old professor and how he looked at life with death quickly approaching. In “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” it centered around the theme of what the main character did with his life, and his penance while traveling to Heaven. In this book, he looks at what would we do if we had one more day with a loved one AFTER their death.
The story’s main...

Alright, here is the second edition of “Ask Scooter Anything”. I only had two participants this time around, but they asked a lot of questions.
——————–
Roger asked:
What do you watch on TV? HOW do you watch TV? Live, or on tape? How much does Nigel watch?
I am going to sound like a typical guy, but I watch sports mostly. Though lately I have even found myself not watching that. During the hockey season, that is another story. I do like watching the Discovery Channel shows or other of the same type of channels. If I am surfing, I will stop on such things like “MythBusters”...

Been a bit busy at home, and not being at home this weekend, and this evening (Nigel’s 9-month check up, even though he is over 10 months old). But rest assured (all two of you that asked questions) that answers will be coming soon.
