One of the longest streaks in Major League history is over. Florida Marlins’ Anibal Sanchez throw a no-hitter LAST NIGHT against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The last no-hitter thrown before last night’s was on May 18, 2004, when Randy Johnson pitched a perfect game for the D’backs against the Atlanta Braves.
Another significant point to this story is that Marcia and I had gone to see a Wilmington BlueRocks game last spring with David, Catherine, and Lyric. Sanchez was pitching for Wilmington at the time, being part of the Boston Red Sox organization. Sanchez threw 14 strikeouts in only 6 innings, and only gave up one hit. In my POST about the game I mentioned that he was someone to look out for in the future. Now I am no scout on baseball talent, but this certainly points to a possible bright future.

Hey cool. I am more impressed that we saw him in his minor colors than anything else. We actually did talk about how we watched a clinic in good pitching that day.
Here’s to hoping all the best for him.

See, scouting may be your real calling. And you get to go to sporting events all the time, AND get paid for it. Of course, if your prospects continually don’t pan out, out you go. So I guess you SHOULD keep your day job.
