When my former employer sent me to live and work in Louisville, Kentucky back in late summer of 1997, I was following four fellow employees who had been sent about six months earlier. There was too much work for them, so I was sent to help out. Before I got there though, the company hired another employee who was from the Louisville area. His name was Rodney.
When our contract was up and the job complete, all five of us from Detroit headed back, and Rodney and his wife Olivia (a Kentucky native) packed up and headed north with us. Rodney and I became pretty good friends, and since I was single I helped show them around the area. Eventually the two of us were contracted to GM and would spend a little over a year in Dayton, Ohio together. We both left our employer around the same time. But Rodney picked up with another group of GM’s down in Ohio, while I headed back to Detroit. We talked a couple of times, but soon after lost touch.
About three weeks ago I had a dream and Rodney was in it. It was strange because I rarely ever remember dreams, and to have him in it was even weirder. But it wasn’t like I hadn’t wondered how he was doing. So I did a search using the first part of his old home email address. It turned out that he used it as a username for a online forum he was a member of. I joined the forum (for salt water fish and homemade reef fans) and sent him an email. He got back to me about a week later, and on Thursday we talked on the phone. It was great hearing from him and catching up. We plan on staying in contact with each other.

I’m really hot on the idea that there are people that one is just destined to be connected with. Like that story.

that is cool. Very much like Jason and I. The timing on Jason and I reconnecting was great, as he was able to come to the wedding.
It is nice to reconnect.
