NOOOOO!!!!!!
According to an ARTICLE on the Detroit Free Press web site, the Wings have signed Dominik Hasek to a one-year contract. In my opinion that is one year too long. He had a groin problem last season, and during his recovery he showed the same bad attitude towards the Ottawa Senators that he showed in both Buffalo and Detroit prior. I know that management was desperate, but I think this is by far the WORST move they could have made. I would rather have seen them sign “Psycho” Eddie Belfour. At least when he looses it, he still plays to win. Hasek gets a blister and wants to sit for a week and can’t understand why teammates, management, and fans get upset.

Dominik Hasek will be seen between the pipes for the Wings again … unfortunately.
Does anyone want to make a bet with me? I bet that before the All-Star break, Hasek re-injures himself and ends up going back to the Czech Republic, making Osgood the starter until Ken Holland can make a deal with Buffalo for Martin Biron. Any takers?

Who was left???? They wanted a vetran golie and waited for every other team to pick one up. So…. Now you want Eddie the eagle…. I told you they should have signed him up.

I didn’t want Eddie, but I didn’t want Hasek even more so.
I am not sure if management dragged their feet, or if they tried to make deals with other goalies but just couldn’t give them enough. I am also hoping that they tried to make a trade with Buffalo for Martin Biron, but the Sabres wanted too much. That is the only explanation I have for this move.

Maybe they have simply LOST THEIR MINDS! This is a very sad day in hockeytown. Okay, Hasek. Make me eat my words. Bring Stanley back to Detroit!!

That makes it 8 shutouts on the year now.
Great foresight there, buddy.

I’m glad I was wrong, Ian. And hopefully he won’t get injured during the playoffs.
