Beef - It’s What’s For Dinner!
(Cue up Aaron Copland’s “Hoedown”)
Nigel had his first taste of beef last night for dinner. As expected, it was in an infant form with carrots and barley from a jar of baby food. But he loved it! Actually, he is showing signs of liking some food more then others. He gets really excited and talkative during feedings. Though still, he has eaten everything we give him.

Tornado in Dayton, Ohio Area
Marcia saw reports that there was a TORNADO that came through the southern suburbs of Dayton yesterday early afternoon. I eventually saw the report, too. It was a category one (the weakest/smallest type), but did some damage to homes and other buildings. One of the buildings it hit was the Carpet Warehouse, and then it tore down the sign of Joker’s Comedy Club, both by the Dayton Mall. When Marcia and I lived in Dayton, we were about a two minute drive away from those two buildings. And given how our apartment was situated, and the path of the tornado, we could have watched it coming for us from our balcony.

Good-bye Shanny
Old news, but I am still a bit saddened by it. Brendan Shanahan signed a one-year deal with the New York Rangers instead of staying with the Red Wings. I will miss watching number 14 coast up the left side waiting for someone to feed him a pass to the left circle to one-time past the goalie. But overall, I think it’s a good move for both Shanny and the Wings.

Thanks Shanny for giving some of your best years to the Red Wings, and for always speaking well of the city and it’s team.

Belfour Talks Hit a Snag
These have been the headlines lately of the Wings negotiations with goalie Eddie Belfour. My reaction?

YIPPEEE!!

Sorry, but I don’t want to see “Psycho” Eddie “The Eagle” wearing the Winged Wheel. Honestly, I think it’s time he retired anyway.

Legace is Blue?
Manny Legace has been quoted as being disappointed that he didn’t receive any offers for the number one goalie job anywhere. He has changed his expectations, and is now rumored to be talking to the St. Louis Blues. Regardless where he goes, good luck Manny.

Wings’ “Yankees” Days Are Done?
Michael Rosenberg, a columnist for the Detroit Free Press wrote a recent ARTICLE that the Wings’ days of dominance are probably over. This is in part to the new CBA which includes a salary cap.

I plan on posting about the recent NHL season (been putting it together now for a couple of weeks), but this is still a point that annoys me about the cap. It has created great hockey, and given teams like the Carolina Hurricanes the chance to win the Cup like they did. But it still penalizes the teams that were doing it right. Spending money, but making it too, and putting a Cup contender on the ice.
