NOOOOO!!!!!!
According to an ARTICLE on the Detroit Free Press web site, the Wings have signed Dominik Hasek to a one-year contract. In my opinion that is one year too long. He had a groin problem last season, and during his recovery he showed the same bad attitude towards the Ottawa Senators that he showed in both Buffalo and Detroit prior. I know that management was desperate, but I think this is by far the WORST move they could have made. I would rather have seen them sign “Psycho” Eddie Belfour. At least when he looses it, he still plays to win. Hasek gets a blister and wants to sit for a week and can’t...

So how was our trip to Detroit?
The short answer: Too short, but enjoyable. Though a bit hotter then expected.
The long answer: Read the “book” below.
We left at 2:30 for Washington, PA where we had reserved a room at the Holiday Inn Meadow Lands. Marcia and I had stayed there a few times before, and once with Molson since it’s pet friendly. The place wasn’t the nicest, but for the price it was good. However, the last time we went to Detroit and split the trip, we ended up at the Hampton Inn in Greentree, PA because the Holiday Inn was being renovated. The Hampton Inn turned out to be nicer, and about the same price. So I was all prepared to book a room there until I found some bad reviews...

I have been rather busy lately. I am falling behind on things I wanted to blog about. Including a book review, and the last week of my Aussie Rules Football fantasy league, which I won by the way (I know Catherine was dying to know).
Anyway, Marcia, Nigel, and I are headed to Detroit this afternoon. We are staying outside Pittsburgh at a hotel, and then traveling the rest tomorrow morning. We are looking forward to seeing the family, and I know my Mom is looking forward to seeing the Munchkin Man.

I noticed something today. My priorities, desires, and value of possessions have changed greatly.
OK, so it’s probably not a surprise. And it really isn’t to me, but something really made me notice it. And it may sound strange. It was two Beefeater Gin martini glasses. I threw them in the garbage today. So it may not sound like a big deal, but a couple of years ago it would have been. I went out to buy a bottle of Beefeater Gin back when living in Detroit, and the guy that owned the shop was pushing these bottle/glasses combos. It was the same price as a fifth, but you got two nice glasses. I thought they were so very cool. Of course, when you are single, and have a very well stocked bar, and have cool glasses...

Islanders’ Debacle
So if you haven’t heard, the Islanders owner Charles Wang has just made a joke out of his team. A little over a month ago they announced that Neil Smith had been hired as GM (along with Ted Nolan as head coach, and former Islanders stars Bryan Trottier and Pat LaFontaine had been as lower level executives). It was bold moves from a team that needed them.
Well, just 41 days after Smith was hired, Wang fired him. I think Smith is a bit overrated, but the man has won a Cup as a GM (Rangers in 1994). Apparently Mr. Wang’s business-by-committee approach to the team actually means that he is in charge, though admittedly knows little about the game.
To top this off, he...

My team continues to stay on the right side of the numbers. Though it was a close one this past weekend. A 685-649 victory over Reykjavik.
I had some bad outings from some of my players, including Cameron Bruce of the Melbourne Demons, who I was bragging about last week on how steady he was. Oh well, such is life. Daniel Cross of the Western Bulldogs was my high scorer with 117. This week I take on Casey.
Here is the current ladder, with my team in third place by percentage.

Still Screamin’
Nigel is still screaming. And as much as Marcia and I love him, and know what a blessing is his, it is still getting very annoying. We try to ignore him, but that doesn’t work. He is not looking for attention. He is just busy playing with whatever it is he is playing with, and enjoys screaming his lungs out while doing it. The only thing that I have found that works is making noise back at him. Of course I don’t do it as loud. But he either gets fascinated with the noise I am making, or the faces that I make while making the noise. He laughs and gets excited, but it usually stops his screaming. Of course after a couple of minutes though it gets tiring. And a couple of minutes...

More pictures of the Munchkin Man.
First, Nigel and Molson chillin’ on the couch.

Nigel has finally reached the stage were his feet go in his mouth.

Yesterday evening, I headed over to the Blue Dog Pub with Catherine and David for a beer tasting. Reps from Summit Brewing in St. Paul, Minnesota were going to be there, and they planned on have many of their beers available. This was the first tasting that any of us had been to, so we weren’t sure what to expect.
It was supposed to start 6:30, and after about an hour or so, Marcia was going to call us with a take out order, since her Mom, sister Paula, and our nephew Ryan were coming over. Well, the brewery reps weren’t there on time. Luckily we were being waited on by Lindsey who David and Catherine get quite frequently when eating there. So even though the reps weren’t...
