Over the course of the last month, or more, I have tried many new beers. I compiled a list and added comments when I could. Now that I have finished with this batch, here they are:

Legacy Hedonism Ale
A very complex taste. A bit too hoppy for my tastes. But, I totally understand beer aficionados’ love of it.

Magic Hat Circus Boy Hefeweizen
Surprisingly hoppy. Still a good warm weather brew.

Beamish Irish Stout
My brother Brian gave me four widget cans of this. His comment was that he liked it better then Guinness. I can’t say that I like it better, but it is definitely on par with the “great Irish stout.”

Tetley’s English Ale (owned by Carlsberg)
Another gift from Brian (also four widget cans). Very, very good English ale. Not too heavy, but not lacking in taste.

Unibroue Don de Dieu
I honestly don’t remember exactly what it tasted like, but everything that I have ever had from Unibroue has ranged from excellent to mind-blowing.

Unibroue Maudite
Another one that I don’t remember, but see above for comment.

Unibroue Chambly Noire
Surprisingly I can’t find this one on Unibroue’s web site. This is one incredibly interesting beer. I have had Unibroue’s Blanche de Chambly, which is a citrus tasting whit beer style. Chambly Noire is very dark, yet has aspects of both a whit beer style (citrus) and a porter style (caramel). This is one that I would put just below mind-blowing.

Alba Scots Pine Ale
I really hope to have this one again in the next couple of months. It is a total summer beer with a refreshing taste. The pine-like flavor would go well with seafood, especially fillets.

New Holland Pilgrim’s Dole Barleywine
If drank in quantities larger then two pint/pub glasses worth, this one could hurt. Very strong alcohol taste, but in a Victory Golden Monkey type of way. Though a bit heavier. I am finding that I enjoy barleywines, but they are like brandy or cognac. Best sipped slowly in front of a fire during winter.

Dogfish Head Immort Ale
I ended up getting another bottle of this a few days after trying my first. You can read what it is supposed to taste like from the link. All I can say is, “OK.” It is a very complex brew, and it all tastes wonderful.

Tröegs HopBack Amber Ale
I have had a few amber lagers in my day, so was interested in tasting an amber ale. I was a little scared of the HopBack name, because some beers are just too hoppy for me. This one wasn’t. The hop flavor is strong mind you, but there is enough of the amber-ness to make a nice mix.

Tröegs Rugged Trail Nut Brown Ale
A good example of a brown ale. Nice and tasty.

Tröegs DreamWeaver Wheat Ale
I don’t know what it is about this wheat ale, but this is one of the best ones I have had or can remember. It is VERY unfiltered, which probably helps.

Chambly Noire is my current favorite, it helps that the local Kroger now stocks Unibroure and I’m able to sample more of thier brews on a regular basis.

[…] Anyway, I found a great sampler case, though I have had every beer in it. HOWEVER, it was an ultimate find because I have never found this brewer’s beer sold any way other then by single bottles. That being Unibroue. I have mentioned this BEFORE, but every beer I have had of their’s ranges from excellent to mind-blowing. Now I have a whole case of it to enjoy. And responsibly, too. […]
