For you hockey fans out there, check out this ARTICLE from MSN. A guy in Vermont came up with the backyard Zamboni, named Bambini.

I would love to get one of these! However, I have two problems. First, I don’t have the $30,000 to waste on it. Second, I don’t have a backyard.

As I MENTIONED back on Wednesday, I left a message for my supervisor (the head of the engineering departement) about the idea of working from home. The reason I brought this up is because of Marcia’s migraines. They have been getting bad again, though her new doctor seems to actually be making more progress in the last couple months then any other doctor has in the last 15 years. During those days she is too ill to take care of Nigel, and we don’t have anyone else to turn to.
To my surprise, the company is going through with this request. I was just bringing it up as an idea so a discussion could develop given what would need to happen and what...

A couple of nights ago Marcia and I finished watching “The Constant Gardener” starring Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz. The movie is based on the John le Carré novel of the same name. We watched 3/4 of the movie before going to Virginia, then watched the last bit two nights ago.

From the Focus Features write-up (the “studio” that made the movie) here is a plot synopsis:
In a remote area of Northern Kenya, activist Tessa Quayle (Weisz) is found brutally murdered. Tessa’s companion, a doctor, appears to have fled the scene, and the evidence points to a crime of passion. Members of the British...

Marcia has a really bad migraine, so I am staying home to take care of the Munchkin Man. It’s a real shame that the shots Marcia’s new doctor gave her didn’t work. But he continues to think it is part of a sleeping disorder. The last drug he prescribed was something that I didn’t want Marcia taking, and she has stated that she didn’t want to take it either. Hopefully the doctor has something else in mind.
As for me, I left a message for my supervisor and said that I would like to broach the subject of working at home during these situations. They would have to install some software on my PC for that idea to work, but even before thinking of that, I am sure the executives won’t like the idea....

Everyday I go over to Ramblin’ With Roger. This is the blog of Roger Green. He is always posting about something interesting. He also has a habit of asking the readers of his blog three questions on topics that he posts about. But the most interesting thing he does is his “Ask Roger Anything” segments. He lets readers post any question and he HAS TO answer them. He says that his answers may even be the truth. So I thought it would be fun to try that myself. So if you have any questions (no limit) that you are dying to ask me, just post them as a comment to this post. I will leave it open for a week, then answer them on Tuesday or so.
Well, the best I can,...

Along with the Australian Football League, we had a split week for our fantasy league. What happens is that all the teams get one of the two weeks off, so it takes us two weeks to compile scores. And when the scores were compiled, I lost again. Four in a row now. And I lost by a measly two points, 637-635.
But there is one plus that came out of this. It wasn’t a total lack of production from my team, even though my total was so low. One of my players went down with an injury very early in his game. So since he played, his score had to count. It was only six points worth. Had he made one more hand pass or kick, or had he made one more mark, I would have won the game by a point. And if he had played the whole game and...

Marcia, Nigel, and I got back from Virginia this afternoon. With rain and construction, it took us 6 1/2 hours to get home. What was weird is that we left on a weekday, and caught some rush hour traffic on the drive down, yet only took 5 1/2 hour to get there. That’s the way it goes though.
Nigel was great for the whole trip. The only time he got really, really fussy (OK, screaming his head off) was the last 10 minutes of the drive down. But since it was over four hours since his last meal we totally understood. It could have been teething though, too. His second bottom tooth broke through the gum that day. So now he has two white stripes on his bottom gums. You can kind of see them when he smiles. But only if you are...

Marcia, Nigel, and I are headed to Virginia this afternoon. We will be spending time in Williamsburg, but also seeing Marcia’s relatives in Richmond on Thursday. We are meeting up with Marcia’s sister Paula, her husband Rick, their son Ryan, as well as Marcia’s Mom and Grammie. They have been down there since Saturday night. For those concerned, Molson is staying with one of Marcia’s piano students and his family, so he gets a little vacation of sorts, too. We will be heading back on Sunday morning.
For those that care, we will be without internet access while down there, so things will be quiet around here until our return. Have a great weekend!

Last week Marcia was suffering from back pain. She had wrenched her back while reaching for a diaper. This week it’s my turn.
I was feeling a little back pain the last two days, but this morning while handing Nigel off to Marcia it became severe pain for about 15 minutes. I was about to walk out the door for work. I ended up sitting down for about 20 minutes before I left, though it took me two minutes to get to the chair.
Marcia and I are thinking that this is coming from not holding Nigel correctly. It’s not a lifting thing, or so I don’t think. He is not that heavy, and we don’t bend over that far to pick him up, other then when in his vibrating chair. It’s just a matter of technique,...
